I’M BACK! And IT FEELS AMAZING!
I started Serenity Lane Styling back in 2017 for some ‘me time’ away from the daily challenges of being a new full time stay at home mum with a little one. This space became my creative sanctuary to share my passion for interiors and styling with others. The beginning of this year I ventured away from Serenity Lane to start my new business, The Property Colour Stylist, helping homeowners and builders with their paint, finish and styling selections. It allowed me to get back into the workforce implementing my design qualifications on more flexible terms earning an income from something I really enjoyed. But something was and has been missing. It wasn’t feeling authentic enough to me. So with some wonderful guidance I paused...and pivoted... and am coming back home to Serenity Lane Stylist, where I really want to focus on creating calm spaces and environments. It’s here where I feel my most authentic and passionate and where so many of you have resonated with, which I love. I’m going to be making this ten times better and I’ve got something incredible coming very soon that I’ll be sharing with you. I can’t wait 🙌💕 Kim X
⚠️ DIY LAUNDRY RENO ⚠️ Our little beach cottage came without a laundry 🤷🏼♀️ All we had was a trough at the far end of our garage and the washing machine hose sat inside the sink.
We ripped that out, built a dividing wall and constructed a new, more practical laundry space. We didn’t want to splurge on this space as it is not our forever home and is essentially a laundry on the back of our garage, but I’m really happy with what we achieved on a budget!
Budget Reno’s force you to be creative with your resources. The bench with shelving below was made from one big piece of timber. We saved costs by not changing the plumbing and using brass garden taps with extensions on them and changed the silver handles to matching wood ones on the cabinet. We also added a rail to the wall shelf and used a kitchen sink that was a more practical size and tied in with our colour palette.
Head over to my stories for a full video tour of the space and check out my ‘reno’ highlights for more footage of what this space looked like before!
We leave for Denver next week for a couple days and I am prepping as much as I can around the house. It’s like spring cleaning every time I go on vacation but it also happens to be right before the holidays which I also like to do a good purge around the house before they come. This year I wanna do things a little different, I want to make the most of the season. I usually have great intentions to focus on the one thing that truly matters and then it’s already a week til Christmas and I try to cram it all in. This year I’m searching for ideas now on how to point my kids to Jesus and not gifts. If you know how to do this well, or have ideas I would love to hear! ⠀

When it comes to design we believe simple is best. We are in love with the Focus Podseat from @notedesignstudio which is an elongated seating unit with a high backrest, providing intimacy and a sound absorbing effect. Combining screen, bench and work table. Who wouldn’t want to work from here?

You can just make out Molly cosy on the bed. I have a favourite colour palette of 5 colours which have always followed me around. And blue and white stemmed from some gorgeoys wallpaper I had in my teenage room. The love affair has never left me . Colours certainly have an impact on our emotions. Whenever I walk into this room I feel complete peace . #liveblueandwhite#calmspaces#bedroomstyling#interiorstylingideas
