What a strange gray evening. I used no tricks, it was just like this half bright and half dark, separating in a clean line. #gratitude
The morning and early afternoon were nice, warm and sunny. We worked on some laundry and tore apart our bed trying to dry things out in the constant condensation battle. Of course, it then clouded over and eventually started to drizzle. A chore started in the sun ends up in the rain. Ahh, typical boat life fun!
Jon also braved a trip to town for some bread and veggies. We kicked the kids off the boat and over to the shore for a bit of a break for everyone. A couple of armada guys stopped by to check on all the boats and see if any of us wanted to use the health corridor to fly home. We declined but it seems our neighbor will try to head home to France. .
One of the boats that was on a mooring headed off into the canals for a couple of weeks. So it seems we can get a zarpe to travel in the canals as long as we continue to isolate and then should be allowed back into Puerto Williams. #crazytimes

A very wise man I looked up to in early sobriety spoke the truest words I’ve ever heard. These words changed my life and have shaped the way I not only look at the world but how I act within it. This man is now a friend and I continue to try and emulate his actions. We need people who can teach, push and guide us. Build a community and get around those who have the life you want then do as they do.

It was another pretty sky night. #gratitude
We passed yet another cold day tucked inside with the heater going. We watched for local news announcements to find out if the 100% lockdown was indeed ending. There was definitely some confusion and questions, but it seems we are back to social distancing and allowed to go shopping starting Tuesday. Masks are required in enclosed spaces, only 3 customers allowed in stores at a time and restaurants are only allowed to do takeout /delivery, if authorized. You are excellent expected to stay home. So very much like many places in the world. .
The local government has been really good at communicating but current details about the new local cases has been lacking so far. We are now up to 10 cases while we sat at 6 for quite some time. It would be nice to know if these 4 new cases worked at the hospital like the others or if they were close contacts or if they are of unknown origin. Hopefully some information will come, but in the meantime nobody has really interacted with anybody for the 2 week 100%lockdown and there were a few days of social distancing and limited people in stores before that. .
Otherwise we had a typical day - school work, Duolingo and minor boat chores. We watched Top Gun and hung out together. #crazytimes

It was a cold, rainy, dreary day, but there was still nice sunset color and there is new snow on the mountains. #gratitude
We passed another cold day tucked inside with the heater going. We rolled back an hour for the end of daylight savings and received our food order from the “big” grocery store. It was not exactly what we would have gotten if we were at the store. There were definitely items we had seen but would never have bought (pre-packaged individual hamburger patties, that actually turn out to be like steak slices for cheese steaks) as well as some products that we didn’t know existed (frozen ground pork in a tube). Most of the “new finds” are turning into happy accidents. #positivity#learningnewthings
In the morning we saw that the national government planned to lift the lockdown in Puerto Williams starting Tuesday morning. Then within an hour or so the regional government announced 3 more PW cases of Covid-19. So the lifting of our lockdown seems less likely. We await to hear more details but have learned that opposite to the US the national government controls the (local) lockdowns and the regional government and local mayor have little say. Which explains some of the Punta Arenas begging to be cut off from the rest of the country that went unanswered as their numbers of Covid-19 steadily rose. .
We are surviving fine and are now better stocked on meats / meals again. We would like to be able to do our own shopping, but also *really* want the island to successfully manage to become virus free! So we’ll continue to manage kids that really need to go burn off energy rather than taking anger out in daily fighting loudly in a small enclosed space over randomness. It’s quite grating but at least they are friends again quickly too. #crazytimes
