#carjourney with Jan Peters . Passy—the #car —was our space under the sun, the moon and the stars; oh, what stars and how they glittered! After long walks in the city, by the river, or on the beach, the sight of Passy was reassuring. Passy was our home. I didn’t feel like a tourist, I felt I belonged.

Naz is giving another Top Tip to stay fit & healthy for Christmas.

It seems obvious when you do think about it. But it might not be something you actually think about initially so I thought it was worth sharing!
Parents check the little door trays on the back seat next to your baby’s chairs. I stupidly have some coins in there, that must have just been thrown in at some point in a rush, maybe even before she was born. I didn’t even think to check them but Martha has just reached and picked a 1p up and went to put it in her mouth, this is whilst she’s strapped in and she could still reach. Luckily I was sat next to her but if it had been whilst I was driving and not keeping my eye on her things could have turned out very differently, I dread to think 😫 it’s common sense to not leave things like this within reach but I genuinely didn’t even think to check the doors.. stupidly!

Christmas often involves extra travelling as we make time to visit family and friends - the boys and I had our first road trip of the festive season today as we headed 200 miles north to spend some time with my step mum.
These adventures are exciting but can also feel very hard work!
Here are some tips for surviving those winter car journeys:
🎄 Plan ahead - check what stops are on your route and plan plenty of breaks. Being able to stretch legs and grab a hot drink can make a huge difference to morale. Try to be flexible with arrival times so you don't feel under pressure.
🎄 For very long journeys consider starting in the evening, get the kids into their PJ's and snuggle them under blankets so they can fall asleep while you get some miles in.
🎄 Pack plenty of water and healthy, non sugary snacks for those inevitable "I'm hungry" calls from the back seat. We love nuts, dried apricots, blueberries, oat bars and breadsticks.
🎄 Put together a playlist of the family's favourite songs for some in car karaoke competitions on the drive.
🎄 Games that don't involve props are great to pass the time. Games such as "I spy" are perfect (use colours for children who have yet to master the alphabet - I spy something green ..)
🎄 Don't forget, very young babies should not spend lots of time in their car seats, so if you have a new addition maybe think about inviting people to you this year instead. 🎄 Finally if you do have a very young baby or are dreading a long time in the car with youngsters look into going by train instead.
I'd love to hear your tips too.

Gloucester Cathedral has six new gargoyles each representing a different part of Gloucestershire. The statues include a miner, a suffragette, a jockey a sheep shearer, a cheese rolling contestant. The Gloucester statue is a rugby player kneeling down holding a rugby ball, known as 'Glaaaawster' in homage to the chant by local rugby supporters.

@bubblebum_uk - When Amelia excitedly told me about her friends booster seat I wanted to see what the fuss was about.
I discovered that @bubblebum_uk
booster seats are inflatable, foldable, portable and easy to use. In fact when we received ours I thought how they would have been so useful to have had in New York last Summer.
They are for ages 4-11 years old and are available in lots of different colours and designs.
They are perfect for holidays, playdates and all those unexpected journeys.
Thank you @bubblebum_uk
for gifting these.

Our first Tuesday Tale had to be The Canterbury Tales! It consists of 24 stories covering a story-telling contest by a group of pilgrims travelling from London to Canterbury to visit the shrine of Saint Thomas Becket at Canterbury Cathedral.
They are considered to be one of the most important works in English literature. It is also one of the first works to mention paper, at the time a new invention!
