Throwback to Eid Al-Adha lunch with the Idris family last year (11/08/19).
Just as we have our Biryani and nan gosht as Eid and festive occasion dishes, a celebratory meal for Indonesians as part of Eid festivities is called Opur Ayam. It’s a mild flavoured dish (one of the very few chillii free ones!) where chicken is cooked in coconut milk.
Shame I have no pic of it (although im not surprised - everything looked and smelt so good we couldn’t wait to tuck in!). @medianto29idris is a very good cook!
The last few days has been some of the most emotionally challenging this year. I’ve had to sit with myself and really think about what my life is like.
I’ve had to ask the hard questions like “is this what I had envisioned for my life?”, “am I in love with the way that I live?”, “am I settling?”, “what do I have to lose if I lived my life the way that I want to and spoke fearlessly?”
I guess that’s what turning a year older does to you—you zoom out and see everything for what it truly is.
The best gift I can give myself on my birthday is to honor all that has been, all that I’ve done, all that I’ve felt, and move forward with no regrets, living life fearlessly, in excitement, full of adventures, new experiences and an abundance of love, laughter and joy ♥️
