Lion King Ooshies - Do you know where your Ooshies are? You know the ones I'm talking about. Those little plastic things that brought your child soooooo much joy. Those pesky little blind bags that where opened with glee and excitement. That cute little collectors case with all those spots waiting, no, needing to be filled. Now I can tell you that our Ooshie collection was taken very seriously! Bec (@grace_winters_wonderland) and I launched a country wide offensive!!! Armed with her list and mine she hit a swap meet in the car park near Sydney. While I did the same at our local Woolies in our little outback country town in North Queensland. Adrenalin was high. We had a mission!! And we did it!!! We filled all those little spaces. Nailed it!!! Proud mama moment. We were high fiving each other via phone and feeling like rock stars...... So you can imagine my horror when I found one of these hard fought for treasures cast carelessly aside under my sewing table, then again in the slime on the kitchen bench and even in the box of play dough tools ๐ฉ Ps. I unfortunately killed most my seedlings in the last collectors round.... I'm trying again with a new batch. Wish me luck!!

Ty had a hockey practise at 730 am and then Dryland after from 9-10 and Cam had a practise at 9 am as well. Weโre all sooooo tired!
Anyone else never get to enjoy their Saturday mornings anymore? I donโt remember being this tired when it was just 1 kid with a 630 am ice time. Why does it seem like so I have more work when itโs 2 kids! ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ. I need a nap! .

We had the BEST day out today at dads work Christmas Party, pony rides, petting zoo, riding carnival rides, getting treaties, tattoos all round, horse and carriage rides, meeting santa & getting a present ๐ ๐ฒ I really do freaking love this time of the year! When my kids were younger, I'd get onto them about drawing on the walls, leaving stickers stuck to everything from the TV to the frig, leaving holes in the walls from trying to pin their works of art to the wall. Yeah... I was kinda anal, but kids have no concept of money at that age... so, I would get upset because it cost money to fix things. Then I realized something...

I was stunting their creative growth, yay me! NOT
.
.
When my kids got to the point of wanting to learn how to draw or build things, I'd made the choice that I wouldn't get onto them for being creative anymore. Instead, I'd re-direct those creative juices flowing through them, in another direction. I would ask them questions about their works; "Why are your drawing that?" "What do you like about what you're making?"

Asking questions and showing interest in their creativity allowed us all to reach a common ground and show the kids we were paying attention to them and praising them for what they were doing. This was key! .
.
They began to really blossom when we did this. They felt as though we were supporting and encouraging them and their creativity, instead of trying to box it up into a one size fits all kind of thing. They are each different in their own ways. We have a daughter who loves culture and art, we have another daughter who loves capturing things through a lens and fashion, and we have a son who enjoys building and brainstorming. .

Celia rode the bike for the first time since surgery. She was able to use her legs to stop the bike. She wasnโt able to do that before SDR. Her feet also stayed in the straps before surgery her tone would pull them out. Itโs only been 3 weeks since surgery and we can already see so many changes in Celiaโs body. School is OUT!
In less then one and a half hours we are picking our babies up and starting our summer break! I AM SO EXCITED!!! I absolutely love school holidays!!! It's beginning to look (and feel) a lot like winter! ๐ฌโ There's just a few weeks left to go until the official first day of winter (16 days to be exact), yet it kind of feels like winter arrived months ago. Here in Calgary, we've had snow, off and on, since September.

We definitely enjoy a good day of snow play, especially when the temperature's mild and the skies are sunny and blue. We had such a good day earlier this week, searching the woods and digging through the snow for pieces of wood and bark to build a "forest house", as Ollie calls them. This is one of his absolute favourite ways to spend a day outside-- whatever the weather, whatever the season! I love how this project differs and presents different challenges as the seasons change, too.

Winter's arrival brings with it all kinds of play opportunities unique to the season (unless, of course, you live somewhere like we do where snow could make an appearance during any month of the year). Some of our winter favourites include:
โข building snow forts
โข going on nature walks, or scavenger hunts in the woods
โข digging tunnels in the snow
โข playing with toy construction vehicles to move, dig in, and carry the snow
โข blowing bubbles and watching them freeze in the icy air
โข family hiking on the weekends
We so enjoyed ticking off the items on our fall bucket list this year that a winter one is in the works. Stay tuned!

The results of Friday and Saturdayโs Black Friday sale. I packed these loves up last night before I went to bed and got them posted off this morningโso be on the lookout for your order. I didnโt do any Black Friday shop myself this yearโthatโs a lie. I bought a coat from Gap but itโs going straight back as I am so disappointed in the quality. I canโt believe itโs a Gap coat as Iโve always had such lovely ones from there. So if anyone knows where I can find a nice warm and cozy double breasted pea coat, let me know. Iโm in the market.
Iโve got a couple lone bonnets from the November collection floating around my sewing room. I might just pop them in my stories to see if I can find them some new homes for Christmas.

Nothing like an icy cold morning to get me dreaming of summer. Thank goodness for babes in bonnets and beautiful velvet rompers to remind me how magical this time of year is.
I have a case of the Mondayโs today and the only reason I can pin point is because I have nothing Iโm looking forward to today. Itโs just a normal dayโone I guess we need every once in awhile but Iโm going to work through how to rectify it. Turn my Monday frown on Thursday, upside down, so to speak.
