The Ethiopian rock churches in Lalibela, Ethiopia are an incredible sight to see. The amazing complex of hand-hewn stone churches were, according to the legend, hacked out of solid (albeit relatively soft volcanic) rock by human workers during the day and by angels at night.
The genius of these churches is how they are created out of negative space, underground, instead of conventional construction which builds with solid shapes from the ground up. It is an act of conceptualizing space and structure up-side-down and inside-out.

O Glorious Apostle, Saint John, why for thy virginal purity was so beloved by Jesus as to merit to rest thy head upon His divine Bosom, and to be left, in His stead, as a son to His most holy Mother, I implore thee to set me on fire with a burning love for Jesus and Mary. Obtain for me, I pray this grace from our Lord, that, even now, with my heart set free from earthly affections, I may be made worthy to be forever united to Jesus as His faithful disciple and to Mary as her devoted child both here and on earth and then forever in heaven. Amen.
Attending the Sixth Assembly of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies, with over 500 delegates from 80 countries. The key theme is: How can we promote principles of #Tolerance . Here are some of the statements of some of the keynote speakers:
The Minister of Tolerance, HH Sheikh Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan opens the #peaceforum2019 Sixth Assembly. #UAE is marking this year as #YearofTolerance .
Tolerance for the UAE means respecting the other- says HH Sheikh Nahyan. "Tolerance should lead to cooperation between religions and we see this when the early generations of Muslims would defend the churches of the Christians.", said Shaykh Abdullah Bin Bayyah
The Vice President of Nigeria HE Mr. Yemi Osinbajo spoke elequently and said people need to make personal sacrifices to make our societies commit themselves to lifestyles of tolerance. There is no merit to the idea of the clash of civilizations.
Establishing #peaceful#coexistence in conflict areas is not easy but selflessness of religious leaders go long way in rooting out #intolerance .
A #Muslim governor built 90+ #churches destroyed by #BokoHaram -
shows #Islam protects religious sites.
H.E Dr. Mohammed Gomaa said: "We are here to tell the world that our religion is a religion of peace. Our prophet is a prophet of peace. Our greetings are a greeting of peace." #Islam is #Peace , there is no doubt about it But #ReligiousLeadership#Imams need to show through their words & actions that every aspect of a #Muslim life is protecting Others' life, dignity & #ReligiousFreedom .
When #ProphetMuhammad was asked what form of #Religion is best. He said "Patience & #Tolerance ". Religious leaders should realise that sometimes #intolerance is bred by their actions. Such negative aspects result in breading #hatred towards the other, said H.H Dr. Mohammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League.

What a day! Walked for hours and hours and enjoyed some of Rome's most popular tourist destinations. I particularly like this image - it has a bit going on, but particularly with that flag it just screams Italia. Well it does to me.
🇬🇧 This stunning stone hallway is inside Alcobaças' Monastery 🏰, the greatest church of the Order of the Cistercians and one of our 🇵🇹 most beloved and visited monuments. The breathtaking hallways lead us to the central nave of the church, where there can be found the tombstones of Portugal's best-known star-crossed lovers 💏, D. Pedro and D. Inês de Castro. Both the central area as the outside of the Monastery are filled with beautiful architectural details that will leave you speechless 😳. Totally worth the visit!👫
Vale completamente a visita!
Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
