[SH D4] The day began with my favorite breakfast food - the jianbing, on Yokang Lu. This street used to be the epicenter of Shanghai expat bars. Today, it’s lined with cafés that serve as photo backdrops. 🌯
I sat outside and drank a latte from Café de Volcan, a place that has survived the various changes on this street. Package distribution was in full swing for Shunfen Express, and I watched the action with amusement. 📦
Strolled up to iapm, where my office used to be. I basked in nostalgia and marveled at the rapid changes in the surrounding blocks. Was comforting to see Nanchang Lu remained as charming as ever. 🌳
As I headed up North to my very first neighborhood in Shanghai, I was disheartened to see residents in Zhang Yuan, a historical compound, had been relocated. The area is destined for yet another shopping center. ☕️
Nearby, Starbucks Reserve Roastery towers over Art Deco buildings. Modernity = Consumerism?! 🛍
It was such a privilege to be on the set of K-drama Hotel Del Luna. Just kidding, this was taken at Hotel Seine, a cafe (Yes, it’s a cafe!) in hipster neighbourhood Ikseondong where Hotel Del Luna was actually filmed. Read more about it on my blog (link in profile)!
