Just sharing some exciting news. I have started a new smaller landscape 🙂 ( first picture) and the three other pictures are my paintings that are currently part of the "Hidden Fredericksburg" juried art exhibit at Liberty Town Arts for the month of July. These paintings are one of a kind, original artwork that are looking for a new home ❤️ Hope that everyone is enjoying this holiday weekend! 🇺🇸 #landscapeart#femaleartist#cityviews#wip #oilpainting#watercolorpainting
🇮🇹 VILLA ALBANI TORLONIA
🇬🇧 VILLA ALBANI TORLONIA
The nephew of Pope Clement XI, an attentive patron and skilful diplomat, Cardinal Alessandro Albani (1692-1779) was one of the greatest collectors of ancient sculptures in 18th century Rome.
The Villa, located along Via Salaria, was built between 1747 and 1763, based on a design by the architect Carlo Marchionni.
With its imposing terraced loggia overlooking the Italian garden, the Villa was a cultural forge and a place of delightful sojourns for the circle of antiquarian friends that the learned cardinal had collected around him.
Statues, busts, bas-reliefs, vases, capitals and columns adorned the rooms, gardens and fountains of the villa, which developed as a vast architectural complex of environments and structures (such as the Temple of Diana, the Temple of the Caryatids, the Kaffehaus, the Canopus) that dialogued with each other with the intention of creating an emotional journey.
Upon request, sent with ample notice, the Villa can be visited.
Do you have any travel plans on the horizon?
As much as I love travelling, personally I would like to explore the UK by car with no plans to hop on a plane just yet. What are your thoughts on travelling at the moment?
“To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world.” – Freya Stark
I had almost forgotten what it felt like to travel solo, unhindered by the weight of another human’s needs or desires. Every morning that I woke up alone in Chicago proper, the day was exclusively my canvas. I was more master of myself than at any other time, and the enormity of that autonomy is intoxicating.
An investment in travel is an investment in yourself. Travel is not a reward for working. It’s education for living. It’s more than the seeing of sights. It’s a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of existence, making wherever you go become a part of you somehow.
Yet, as transformative as travel can be with good company, the inner journey of travel is intensified by solitude.
Chicago was an absolute delight. Thanks to all my friends, both old and new, who helped make it special. #summertimechi
