#aprilforartists Day 30 - Biggest Dreams .
Final day of April for Artists and indeed April. My biggest dream right now is that Summer arrives soon 😀. Other than that happiness, health, family and friends. As per the goals question I am rather just being and doing right now, enjoying the moment...For those who have been reading these posts I thank you for caring enough to do so ☺️May all YOUR dreams come true 😘 .
#aprilforartists Day 21 - How you sell
So here’s a photo of half the wall space I rent in a lovely little craft collective @somethingdifferent.ch run by the amazing @nikkibyfield. It is a small space in a tiny Swiss village called Menzingen in canton Zug. It is stocked and managed by a group of artists all living in Central Switzerland, but originating from all over the World. Here you can Shop, Create and Celebrate 😀. I also do a lot of private commissions for people living in the area. A large part of my business is leaving presents being part of a large expat community with sadly the inevitable turnover that comes with that. Most recently I have been doing a lot of pet portraits for the many dog lovers out there. 😍.
#aprilforartists Day 9 Art on Wall .
This was a commission of 4 large Swiss themed cows heading to Australia 😀. People often buy or are gifted a cow or four when they are leaving, and naturally choose things special to them. These cows had Gruyère Cheese, Zug, Baarer Beer and Chocolate, what’s not to love 😍. I’m hoping not to leave any time soon, but I sometimes think about what I would choose. 🤔
#aprilforartists Day 8 Work in progress. Here is a new dog “Chin Chin”. Made from a magazine I picked up in Japan and have wanted to use for a while. This seemed the perfect opportunity. I’ve done quite a few pet commissions with torn paper, and the hardest part is the eyes. You’ll notice my cows don’t have eyes 😊. I’ve started to cut the eyes out now in order to better catch the dog’s personality. Seems to work. .
#aprilforartists Day 2 - favourite medium. .
Most of my work is paper with a dash of tissue and metallic leaf. The first thing I do when I pick up a magazine is flick through to identify any pages with collage potential. I love to pick up free magazines, tourist brochures, store bags, anything on a nice paper really. I also use chocolate wrappers and wine or spirit bottle labels...such a great excuse for a little treat in the interests of art 😀. Living in Switzerland one of my go to magazines is @fooby.ch from the coop, such great cow material in there. I like to think of my art as sustainable, reusing and repurposing items that would otherwise be thrown away. #collagebykate#livinginswitzerland#meetthemaker#artistsoninstagram#collage#collageart#sustainableart
