In this weeks episode of the Crush HAIL Academy Podcast, Bob discusses the importance of systems and how they benefit our businesses.
Oh, and we hear about one other “challenge” Bob faced as he kicked off his Friday.
I spent my day so far replacing the roof skin on this Toyota 4Runner. Roofs can be a pain in the ass sometimes especially when they are up high on trucks and suvs but it’s all part of the job! Luckily they don’t get damaged too often unless a big storm comes through town!
Sometimes it helps to use to frame machine to just put a little pressure on a frame rail when trying to cut it out. Now you don’t want to pull hard and bend stuff, you just want to use it almost as a 3rd hand thats really strong while you find what’s holding it up.

Using keys to pull out a dent. This system isn’t cheap but very handy to have for these type of repairs.

It’s very important to always use Cavity wax after you finish a repair to prevent it from rusting out from the inside. When a car body is put together from the factory it is dipped so everything is coated however that is obviously impossible to do in a bodyshop so this is how we protect from rust. I normally do it after paint because I don’t want it to seep out durning paint or cause the tape to not stick.

It’s might seam crazy but it’s often when you have a small whoop dee doo in you body filler it is often much easier to re-coat the entire area with a skim coat of glaze rather then try and just add some to the bas spot. Reason being is if you just coat the spot in the middle of the filler work, you will often under cut the area around where you spotted in the filler. Not saying it’s impossible. I do it from time to time but it’s often just faster to coat the entire area again. Be sure to watch the full episode on this repair just posted on my fb page @ BlueCollarKyle
