You gotta take the good with the bad sometimes! This one was a bit of a pain in the ass. I had to park it next to the frame machine to use that to stand on while I did the repairs. It wasn’t fun but it’s done! Check out yesterday and today’s episodes ( #386 -387) of Inside the Bodyshop on Facebook @ BlueCollarKyle to watch the full repair!
Always check to make sure the sheet metal fits correctly especially when repairing any structural part or before welding and new structure in! It’s important to pull out the damage before cutting a vehicle apart even when the panels are getting replaced. The reason for this is because there could be other parts that shifted as well but are just not visible. Using the damaged parts to pull off of will help everything else shift back to it’s correct position. If this isn’t done it can cause major problems when trying to fit the new parts up. Trust me, I’ve learned the hard way more then once 😆
Here’s another example of how I like to work the bodylines back into shape by taping each side of the bodyline and then sanded up to the tape. Be sure to check out the full repair of this quarter panel on today’s episode just posted on Youtube @ BlueCollarKyle

Q: Is our 1-step system better than our traditional 3-step system?
A: Well, it really comes down to...do you prefer sanding or buffing? Compounding is the longest step in the paint finishing process, and it uses the heaviest tool. With the 1-Step system you can trade the heavy buffer for a lighter DA sander. Without compounding you don’t have compound sling or swirls, and the risk of burn-through is much lower. However, we've heard from many that they are sticking to compounding (our traditional system) because that's what works best for them.
