Seen as every bit of work I’ve ever done is the intellectual property rights of a brand (eye roll), I decided to start doing some stuff in my free time.
Probably related to ADD, I have had sleep paralysis and recurring lucid dreams as far back as I can remember; this is a go at conceptualising a recurring dream I’ve had for the last month or so involving illustration, photo manipulation and a bit of 3D rendering for good measure. (Then recorded a Blade Runner-esque accompaniment and added some motion effects for mood)
Not sure I quite finished it, but I just wanted to post it somewhere so I can move on with life and obsess over something else utterly pointless for a week x

▪️Description: Black cloth patch, aprox 1.5 x 2.5 inches. White bird manually screen printed on with thick white ink. The edges are not sewn, so care must be taken to avoid unraveling. ▪️Life: The person that made this is my friend. He is starting a little hand made clothes company and I really love supporting him in that. It’s so important to support small businesses! Each thing you buy from them does not only represent money, but also confidence. A feeling that they can do it, that what they make is work making. There is nothing better. I speak from experience. For someone selling handmade goods, each sale is a little triumph. 😄Also love the design of this! He has such good taste! 😄✨💕 It’s another one that is living on my backpack now. 💯🧵
Say Something III 12”x9” #oiloncanvas .
🌈🖤 I’ve created a little scavenger hunt for y’all; a teaser on what’s to come in 2020. “Say Something 1,2 &3” are each posted to my profile and each one tells you a little more about my next series. .
I’m going all in! Not holding back even my nerdiest 🤓 artsy lingo... bc thats what this series is about; putting all your weight into everything you do. With one life to live- who has time for shying away and second guessing what you feel in your heart? So the question these paintings beg to ask is: what do you want to say with your life? Pretty heavy, right? .
I’ve said it a’hundred times and in as many ways, but let’s recap yet again for new followers: our heart tells us everything we need to know. And, I learned a long time ago that my art had a way of drawing out what lurks unrecognized in my heart. As I paint, I record thoughts as they surface and later return to my notes to write more thorough explanations about what my smears of paint really say about me. And there lies the titles of my paintings. #artistherapy “Say Something 1-3” have boldness and a subtle loudness and unapologetic eagerness and energy. I knew I wanted to work with more weight, more confidence. So then I wanted to know why I needed more weight in my work? These paintings are leading into my next series...so what is it that they are trying to say? .
To continue reading- head back to my profile and read the caption for “Say Something II”. 🌈🖤 ... #conceptart#conceptualart#fineart#sarahottspaintings#sarahottsgallery#shosaysomething2020

Are you finding and acknowledging BEAUTIFUL things, moments and people today?
Black. Ecru. Aquamarine. Umber. Taupe. Indigo. Fulvous. Umber. Lavender.
Sometimes beautiful things cannot be expressed in words; sometimes beauty is not necessarily an ideal or an archetype. .
Beauty is sometimes unrecognizable and different.
It’s the differences that help us grow.
Although we are already beautiful as we are, there is always room to keep growing and learning from each other. Sometimes the things most frightening and seemingly ugly or boring are the things we need to look at and discover why we dislike something or someone so much.
Looking inside ourselves helps us emanate beauty - from the inside out.

My subject is deadweight, unable to move, and covered in debris. He has rooted himself to where he has fallen. Moss and mushrooms take their place. He’s tired and finding the uneven ground comfortable. Rooted in his rut.
Kids were off school today so we made a couple batches of things coated in chocolate, watched a movie and other shenanigans.
Now that things are winding down I am looking forward to cutting more on this rendition of Lilith inspired by my friend @klo_foto 's daughter and her pet snake. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The final cut piece will get handpainted a process I fell in love with just this year and haven't stopped since. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you learned a new skill set, found or developed a new product this year and you're hooked? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #smeretactics#reliefcut#lilith

Prominent in Paris in the 1960s, Buren is internationally recognized for his contribution to conceptual art as a founding member of the BMPT group (comprised of Buren, Olivier Mosset, Michel Parmentier, and Niele Toroni), in which he abandoned the idea of painting as object and dismissed the importance of authorship. Pasting pre-fabricated, alternating white and colored vertical stripes on unconventional supports and space – ranging from doorways to billboards to the courtyard of the Palais Royal in Paris – he challenged conventional notions of where art can be seen and how it can be understood. #conceptualart#contemporaryart#artbasel
