Our new home ♥️ this summer was a race to get settled in before the school year and pure chaos at times but we did it, love our house and are slowly making it ours. We moved a little further out from the city and let me just tell you we’re in love with this country livin’ thing. Never would I have guessed I’d meet a midwestern boy and not have mountains or the ocean in sight but the green trees, the rivers and lakes and the backroads are not too terrible either. I’ll forever be an Alaskan girl but I sure can’t wait to make memories and raise the kids in this sweet little home and town. 💙 #alaskaninthemidwest#countryliving#slowlane#cricketschirping#frogscroaking#fireflies#midwest
Täällä ollaan taas seuraava viikko mummolassa hoitamassa 🐄.
Syksy taas tuli oikein rytinällä ja olisi pitänyt ottaa toppatakit mukaan, kun mittari näyttääpä +7 aamulla 🥶 Mitä teidän viikonloppuun kuuluu? 😊
Good morning !
It’s a lovely lazy Sunday for me today! It’s been such a busy week I will be just happy to spend the day with my parents pottering in the garden having a proper catch up!
I have had such an amazing , inspiring week .. with two home decor events.
I went to the @interiorjunction event in Derby yesterday ... and what a fabulous day! Some fantastic new ( to me) small businesses, fantastic talks and workshops, free styling demos....It was great to catch up with friends and meet ones I speak to on here finally IRL! We had sourdough toasties and drank fizz in the sun listening to live music. What a fabulous event! I took my mum with me and she loved it! She was blown away by all the lovely people she met! ( yes ,you really all are a great bunch! 😝💕) It was a real challenge for me to start this Instagram account as I am a fiercely private person by nature but my passion for interiors and home decor overtook that and I have no regrets!
The fantastic inspiration on here and the wonderful community make it an amazing place to be and I feel I’m now reaping the benefits from that initial push and worry!
I went to my first event about five months ago knowing no one... only a few chats on here and I was petrified! But I met the most amazing , friendly bunch of folk! I have met some amazing small businesses and had the opportunity to collaborate with some wonderful products!
So if you are just dipping your toe into IG or are contemplating going to an event I say do it!!! You really won’t regret it ! There is such a wealth of knowledge to tap into out there with everyone willing to share experiences and inspiration freely! And the best bit is you meet lovely people along the way! Some I am happy to now call real 3D friends! 😂😂 So on that reflective note I’m going to leave you with my spare room where my parents stay when they come over!
Happy Sunday! .

Llangynidr is a village, community and electoral ward in Powys, Wales, about 4 miles west of Crickhowell and 9 miles south-east of Brecon. The River Usk flows through the village as does the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. It is in the historic county of Brecknockshire. This viewpoint I managed to stumble across is one of the most scenic village photography spots in the whole of the Brecon’s 📸
I put together a fall table setting this morning.🍂 I just love those wooden pumpkins from Hobby Lobby this year. I also picked up those burnt orange flowers and plaid napkins from the ole’ Hob Lob as well. Hope you have a great weekend!
I’ve driven past this house so many times yet never fail to stare at it. They say texting whilst driving is dangerous well I have nearly crashed so many times by looking at a view or pretty houses, sometimes I have to fully turn myself to look. Not cool. Must stop. Can’t help myself. I’m not the best of drivers, I’ve mounted hedges and rocks, but seriously I need to stop turning my head for all these houses because I don’t want them to be the reason for my demise.
Nothing quite beats these old lamp posts in my opinion. During the 18th and 19th century the nights were a painfully dim place to be. Apparently, the original lighting in London was so poor in 1763 that James Boswell was able to have liaisons with a lady on Westminster Bridge. The shadows and gloom of the pre-electrified world not just provided privacy for Mr Boswell's actions but it was also a haven for crime. If there was no moonlight, people would find their way with personal lanterns and business owners would sometimes hang lanterns outside their premises.
The first public street lighting was with gas (the gas was a flammable gaseous fuel made from distilling coal) and was demonstrated in Pall Mall, London on January 28th, 1807 by Frederick Albert Winsor.
Gas street lighting wasn't widely available until the mid-nineteenth century and as late as the 1930s, in London, almost half of the streets lamps still used gas. A gas street lamp only illuminated a few feet around its post. The light was more to provide distant points of brightness to aim for - in parts of London they were 65 metres apart. The lighting-up time varied due to the season but lamplighters would be seen with small ladders at dusk and dawn lighting or extinguishing the wicks or mantels of the street lamps 💡
