now playing the game whereby @carolinebrownartist shouts down a letter from the alphabet to me & I choose an LP by an artist beginning with said letter.
The letter 'F' was bawled down to me so I chose the lovely Lefty Frizzell..

I guess we’ll call this playlist uhhh... America? Except Nick Drake isn’t Americana. Uhh. Yeah that doesn’t work. Shit. Well, take it or leave it, I guess. Sun Kil Moon is a long time want that I finally scratched off the list back in January. Ring of Bone might look like a metal album but it’s actually Tom Russell’s first outing as a vocalist. Paired with Patricia Hardin’s amazing voice, it’s a sobering bit of folk with some amazingly lush production that predates a lot of that Americana-tinged slowcore that was popular in the 2010s. Suni Mcgrath is an instrumental blues player that @electrobeams turned me onto a few years ago. I’ve been trying to collect all of the albums in his brief discography. Earl Gilmore is a gospel singer I took a chance on. I’m not sure it’s something I’d want to listen to every day but he’s got a tremendous voice. Of course I had to pick up the new @bendigofletcher from @soulsteprecords. Beautiful work as always! The John Prine LPs are recent pressings that I picked up at a Barnes and Noble because we all need a little Prine in our collections. I wanna do something longform dedicated to him. Maybe a complete discography deep dive like Mic The Snare does? Pink Moon is an early Island repress that I scored on eBay. The music is legendary but I’m not sure if I’m in love with this pressing. I think it might just be my current setup. It translates more dynamic records really well but playback on more midrange stuff leaves me feeling kind of flat. I’ll do more investigating. And actually, same goes for this Chris Whitley LP. It’s one of my favorite albums of all time, so I know how it SHOULD sound. But this original European pressing isn’t impressing me. I’ll hold onto it for now and maybe do a compare/contrast against the 2013 Music On Vinyl reissue.
Nashville also known as music city of the USA is treat for country music fans and has an amazing vibe with all the honky tonky bars running free live music. But the murals by local and international artists all around the town add another character to this city.
Song number four in the #SummerSundressSeries by request; a throwback to 1961 with the song Crazy from country legend Patsy Cline! Fun facts; did know this ballad was composed by Willie Nelson? Patsy was also one of the first women to break into the country and western music scene! Thank you for paving the way, Patsy! 😘🤠👢 link to full cover in bio💕
