Truth be told, I think rum might be my new favorite alcohol? I haven’t used it much at home until this challenge, and I am so so glad I did. For today, I cracked open The Drunken Botanist by Amy Stewart (which fun fact, has been gifted to me three times 😂) and made the Mojito y Mas. A mix of lime juice, simple syrup, mint, rum and soda water is the perfect recipe to beat this fall heat we are having 👏🏻

Amaro and I have been really digging highballs lately. She, after tossing a couple back, said we should make a sazerac inspired by a stiff Jack and Coke.
So we tinkered a little bit and resulted with the little stir up.
It’s quiet enjoyable and we are going to further pursue this high ball inspired sazerac angle. 😸
1.5 Jack Daniels, .5 Amaretto, .25 Toasted Oat and Rosemary Syrup, 3 Dashes Santa Theresa Cacao and Spice Bitters, Absinthe Rinse, Stirred with a Lemon Peel.

Arette's name comes from a famous horse that won the gold medal in the 1948 London Olympics. THE CHARRED GRAPEFRUIT BOULEVARDIER
▶︎ 1 oz @cooperscraft Barrel Reserve
▶︎ 1 oz @yzaguirreusa Sweet Vermouth
▶︎ 1 oz Campari @campariusa
▶︎ 4 Dashes of @crudebitters Smoke & Salt Bitters
▶︎ 1 Charred Grapefruit Twist
Combine #CoopersCraft , Campari, sweet vermouth and bitters in a mixing glass with ice. Stir for 10 seconds. Strain and pour over a crystal clear ice cube. Express a grapefruit peel and proceed to char the peel until aromatic. Serve and Enjoy!

I had left over pineapple juice from tiki week, so I put this together.
One of the lesser seen great classics, this cocktail is named after the famous Algonquin Hotel in NYC. It's not clear if the cocktail came around before or after Prohibition, as the hotel was "dry" at it's founding.
Its balance is delicate, so be sure to use fresh, high quality ingredients. Shake with large ice or stir for 30 seconds. If you shake like I did, double strain into your glass.
1½ Rye whiskey
¾oz Fresh pineapple juice
¾oz Dry vermouth
Taste is reminiscent of a martini. Slight pear and pineapple with a full body and a baking spice finish from the rye.

Pickled cherry blossom is used in Japan to make sakura tea, often during the celebration, such as weddings. Or you can cook it with rice for its aroma and beautiful pink contrast.
This Sakura Martini is based on Kenta Goto’s @kenta_san recipe, together with gin, sake, and a touch of Maraschino. The pickled cherry blossom is first soaked in warm water to rinse off the salt. When the drink has just a few ingredients, I select my bottles carefully. I used Ki No Bi gin for its yuzu, citrus notes with still full of earthy tones. For sake, I used Takara @takarasakeusa Sho Chiku Bai REI Junmai Daiginjo for its delightful floral notes. The Maraschino adds some depth but should not overpower the delicate drink profile. Hence I choose Leopold brand.
2.5 oz Sho Chiku Bai REI Junmai Daiginjo @takarasakeusa
1 oz Ki No Bi Gin
1/2 teaspoon Leopold Maraschino liqueur
One pickled cherry blossom
Add all ingredients in a mixer with ice, stir and strain into a chilled Nick and Nora glass. Add cherry blossom.
