Earlier this evening we headed into Lincoln to visit the German-style Christmas market, an annual event held over the first full weekend of December (this year, Dec 5 - 8). It has become one of the biggest Christmas markets in Europe, regularly attracting 250,000 visitors. Stalls stretch out across an area of 'Uphill' Lincoln around the cathedral and castle known as the Cathedral Quarter, which makes everything so atmospheric, especially as it grows dark. There is always a funfair too, to keep both children and adventurous adults happy. The Big Wheel and other high-flying rides are not my thing, but are very popular with many.
This year is Lincoln's 37th Christmas market, the first being in 1982 following the twinning of the city with Neustad in Germany. Many of the stalls are traditional German cabins selling a great variety of goods, from sheepskin products to crafts and gifts, jewellery and candles to food stalls of all types. Cooked foods sell particularly well, especially roasted meats and German sausages, mince pies and roast chestnuts. Local (uncooked) foods can also be purchased including Lincolnshire's famous Poacher cheese. Mulled wines, ciders and spiced gins are just three of the many drinks available.
Most years there have been a number of German stalls around the market, including one from the founder member at Neustad. Unfortunately, this year, the one from Neustad was absent, due to costs. Another thing we noticed was the increased security in view of recent events in London. Both, sadly, signs of the times.

365 days ago I was in hospital patiently waiting for labour to start. And here we are, after the most magical year of my life, celebrating our babies Birthday Eve with her nursery pals and Nanny. #bestdays#daysout#firstbirthday
Some of the handmade and vintage Christmas goodies coming with me to Cedar Farm Market tomorrow. As well as my other vintage treasures, gift ideas and upcycled furniture.
Saturday December 7th 10am - 2pm. There will be over 50 independent stalls inside and outside. It’s always a busy one and a lovely mix of food, vintage and crafts. X @lovecedarfarm Mawdsley, West Lancashire, L40 3SY

- AD - ‘BEST DAY EVER’
Today we took Ella to see Peppa Pig Live for the 2019/2020 UK tour of ‘Best Day Ever’
Ella was very excited to go on the Underground to London for the first time to see ‘the film’ as she said. Imagine her surprise when onto stage came ‘the real Peppa pig’ and all her friends.
There is something so special about the look on her face when she watches theatre shows and today was no exception. As Daisy walked on to introduce the show Ella sat on the edge of her seat excitedly answering Daisy’s questions.
She watched in awe as her very favourite characters went through a story of car trips, roadworks, water leaks, exploring caves, tours of Castles and sing alongs. .
She loved it (and so did I).

Another day, another Stately Home at Christmas. Today was @harewoodhouse which has a really different and innovative festive offering this year. @studiomcguire have brought statues to life, given voice to portraits, characters to crockery and created magical miniature scenes in dolls houses and drinks cabinets. It really is fun! Love the Yorkshire ‘earthyness’ and humour that comes across! Great to see the preview day and be able to get up close, especially to the smaller parts of the exhibit. I kind of don’t want to spoil the digital surprises that await, so here’s a static book tree in the library which is as lovely as the digital installations. Fab stuff @email@example.com@lindsey_portero and thanks for having us over today. Go see!
S T - I V E S • Cornwall 🏴 🇬🇧 ~ the harbour at St Ives on Cornwall's Atlantic coast is charming and pretty in equal measure. It's quintessential in many respects and has us yearning for those longer days. But, winter is here, Christmas is on the horizon and we want to see some wintery seaside scenes so get tagging us!

L I Z A R D - P E N I N S U L A • Cornwall 🏴 🇬🇧 ~ Lizard village, also known as The Lizard, is the most southerly on the British mainland. The name "Lizard" is most probably a corruption of the Cornish name "Lys Ardh", meaning "high court". The seas around here are particularly hazardous, the biggest rescue in the @RNLI's history was 17 March 1907 when the 12,000 tonne liner SS Suevic hit the Maenheere Reef near this point. In a strong gale and dense fog RNLI lifeboat volunteers rescued 456 passengers, including 70 babies.

Hey everyone, we’re still here 👋🏼 Everything has been so busy here and I just haven’t had the time to get the camera out or even think about posting. So here we are throwing it back to pumpkin picking. I really miss days out with the kids. Either the weather has been pants or we’ve been busy with Maes football/birthday parties to attend. This weekend as well as Maes football game, we are getting out, rain or shine!! .
