Yay...

Whilst my trusty camera kit is off for servicing I’ve missed pulling it out to pester the kids with it over the weekends, so yesterday I dusted off my entry level Nikon and played around with my kit lens in the fog!
It’s definitely a challenge without my professional camera body but thankfully Calderstones Park @thereaderorg never lets me down with a beautiful setting for some much needed inspiration.
Let's do it 🛫

As a creative, sometimes I find inspiration in what others might consider random things, like the rug under your chair on the floor. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And sometimes I'll ask my clients to humour me and let me see where that inspiration takes me, like asking you to move the chair and lay your baby down on said rug. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And I'm SO appreciative when they when do, because sometimes my vision comes through in the end. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hello super cute baby on super cool rug in pretty light!😊 #jennyrusbyphotography
Sally + her Dylan.
Loved hanging at the beach with this beautiful blue-eyed boy and his people last week.
I'm trying to get back into the groove of posting.
And catching up on editing.
But... school holidays!
Appreciate your patience, all you lovely mummas!

I'm completely obsessed with visual storytelling and strong images that make you linger and analyse what's happening in the frame.
There is nothing better then seeing an image and going "oh man look at this", which makes your eyes dart around the frame to take the full effect in, creating depth, creating meaning.
Especially when its a product of creative instinct, un-scripted moments, and has authenticity to it.
This gorgeous little girl is my niece. She was having a particularly vulnerable moment just moments prior to this, feeling a little lost. So she quietly walked up to her Nan and softly asked for her necklace to be put on. As I watched my mum do so, I noticed my niece nuzzle closer into her Nanny's legs becoming visibly calmer with every passing second, bathing in the comfort of the safety net provided by her Nanny. A priceless portrayal of a 3 year old and her Nan and their unconditional love.
19/366 "Girls have to go into the world to make up their own minds about things"
Yes another quote from Little Women, this time from the movie. Because it speaks right to my heart.
My girls started dance today. For me it signifies the beginning of them deciphering between their likes and dislikes, further becoming their own person.
It's a beautiful thing to watch, yet it hits deep in my heart seeing them grow up a little more with this new adventure.
Save with mom. I just love this moment between mother and daughter. It was a perfect winter day and there were many dogs playing around, which was a bit intimidating for her. Lucky she had the one where she feels most safe right there with her.

It’s so cool that she’s able to keep her head underwater more and more! She does still need some swimming lessons to back that up, but I’m thinking we’ll enrol her after the school ones are done with so I know which level to put her in 👌🏼 It’s not often I get to pull out my underwater camera gear, but when I do I have a lot of fun!
.. between swimming in the sea, the river and baths on the deck these cousins had the best week hanging out together at the beach house .. if only summer holidays lasted forever 🙌🏼☀️🌊🧜🏻♀️🧡✨

Who doesn't love an outdoor Birthday party? Now that the winters are here, it's time to take the fun outside with all your artsy, crafty, DIY, luxurious setups outside. Take advantage of this blanketing warmth of the sun and serene blue skies.
My Boys 💙
I came home from a session and creeped around the corner listening to these two laughing like crazy inside this little play tent set up in the middle of our living room. Never ever want to forget these moments ... or these giggles! These are the days friends ❤️
In a creative world where I often see many similarities, I crave to be unique and authentic! This family isn’t average in all the best ways and together we got to make memories that are unique to them! .
I get asked a lot what I do after family photo season is over, and honestly I do some of my favorite things the rest of the year! Family photos are typically September to December, then January to August I get to spend lots of time with pregnant mamas and new mamas! I absolutely LOVE maternity sessions and photographing babies. There is so much more to families than Christmas cards, and I love seeing that the rest of the year.
