Another day another repost, thanks so much @robinofmojave for the straight-to-the-point imagery. Now is not the time for your desert escape! There is one small hospital here that serves the entire basin with only 4 ICU beds and something like 20 beds total. There is no way our medical facility could accommodate a pandemic response if you were to infect someone here; and god forbid you need to be hospitalized, taking away those resources from locals who need them. Our grocery stores are also just as lean as those in the cities. Don't strain our rural system for your perceived peace - this effects all of us, everywhere, and the best way to stop it is to stay home. Please do the responsible thing and postpone your trip, cancel your Airbnb rentals & #staythefuckhome - your own home - please and thank you.
Do you remember the first time? I surely do. 12 years this spring.
When I stood there and gazed, it is ethereal. Only a few places (never people or even god) on earth can spark this for myself. Located on an open bluff atop an orange red mesa with specks of greens and shades of ochre. This vista was optimal prior to the storm. The finches are aroused sparked by the universe's energy. The sage becomes ample and satisfying on the palette. Ominous skies are highlighting the scars of the past millennia. I think of the indigenous, animals or newcomers to this location. What did they notice, sensing all the commotion in the heavens above. More importantly the strata. Bleeding hues of red, yellow and being carresed over and over again for eternity. Ancient sand barges that have dehydrated and posted up. How did ancestral birds that stood as tall as a redwood maneuver the topography. Wind blowing for centuries before the first hominid decided to stand erect among her kin. This earth, a deeper and more traumatic story than I could ever convey to any piece of paper. I am young and insignificant compared to these dusty giants. I am addicted to it. Everytime I lay under her natal bridges I am guided back to the first time. The torrid desert is a gypsy whos untamed spirit will most definitely have you consider, your own curious corners and the millennia it took to be cognizant of it. On this morning, with my mother at hand, that feeling from 12 years ago graces me. I smile because now my mother can manifest her own meaning of these magnificent queens.
This week we visit the Joshua Tree Southern Railroad in Joshua Tree CA! It was so cool meeting the train enthusiasts as well as taking a tour through some historic train cars not to mention riding one of the trains! This episode is going to be hard to beat :-) After we take a look at two of my listings in the Burns Canyon area of Pioneertown! Both have insane views!
