Love these goofballs so much, that we bought them an old skate park 😂😂 we have driven twice to alamagordo to pick up an old skate park that we found on public surplus. We got all the ramps last week, this week it’s the half pipes!
If you don't have time to traverse mountain passes, you can take an overnight trip to the Agafay Desert: a rough, dry, moon-like expanse 40km southwest of Marrakesh down the Route d'Amizmiz. This is a favourite playground for weekending Marrakshis who come for horse-riding, dune-gazing and canoeing on Lalla Takerkoust, a man-made reservoir. In spring wheat and wildflowers predominate; in summer and autumn it really does look like the desert.
I went walking yesterday through the desert, collecting rocks and dead cacti for my projects. Last min decision led me up a hill under a tree that provided the shade and cool I had been seeking. I witnessed these two walking along the same wash way I had been on. I don’t know for sure if they had been tracking me but I do know when it’s that hot outside you normally don’t see coyotes walking around. They hunker down and wait for darkness. Perhaps they picked up a scent trail of my bloody insides. Perhaps not. Who knows, but they gave me no troubles and it was quite the gift to be able and witness such magnificent animals. #respectnature#theirhome#desertlife#desert#coyotes#yipyip#blessings#gifts#respectwildlife#protectwildlife#zen 🌵💚

into the sonoran, through a wash or two, up a generally small mountain, and ascend a cliff edge to its end with far reaching views of the desert below. that's where this ram keeps his watch year after year. this cliff is my very favorite spot in the sonoran, and i'm fairly certain myself and two others i brought years ago are the only humans in some time to sit there. or ever. no wonder this ram makes it his home.
elastic hooves for super cliffy traction. adapted to little water over long periods. can lose high levels of body weight and survive. desrt life.

Wenn Leute schlecht über dich Reden, dann lass sie reden. Das Leben gibt ihnen früh genug zurück was sie verdienen.
We are honored our desert, mid-century property had the chance to participate in Palm Spring’s Modernism Week this year! Our team had a blast demoing some of our Cuyama Cuisine! Thank you to everyone who attended!
We do our best to make a point to watch the sun go down each day... it’s always beautiful, always different, and always free. 🌅 Last night’s spot was especially magical, from a picnic hut in Saguaro National Park.

Two summers ago, I enjoyed the last few bites of my dinner as the sun set on this rainbow butte. My friend and I marveled at a spider wasp nearby, and as blue hour faded into black, we watched the stars slowly take over the sky. It was late July in southern Utah, and when the breeze picked up, it felt like the earth was kissing our bare skin. We poured more wine and kicked back in our flimsy little camp chairs, soaking up every second of this perfect evening. I put a lid on my mug, figuring it would be an adequate barrier for most of the bugs, and plunked it down in the dirt. Unbeknownst to me, a large moth crawled into the drinking slot, and when I took my next sip I nearly gagged. It went right into the space between my tongue and the roof of my mouth, and it was hairy, soft and definitely still alive. The force with which I spat the moth to the ground killed it, though I imagine the amount of wine it consumed softened the blow. I was laughing in disbelief throughout the entire ordeal, but the sensation of a live insect in my mouth is something I’ll never forget. Funny how that is a stronger memory than the sunset glow on these colorful striations, but hopefully a few more trips to this spot will change that. Oh, and I now use mag slider lids on all of my camping mugs. 🙅🏻♀️
