It has been ages since I've made one of these timelapse videos! I had an appointment this morning and then had planned to just sit and read my Mary Oliver book by the ocean, but me being me, I had grabbed the wrong bag and ended up sans book but luckily for me, plus one - my little camera. I had forgotten how damn long these things take to film!!! Watching two Sea Stars battling in slow motion is one thing, sure it takes forever but there is discernible movement, however watching a bunch of Marine Snails SLOWLY making their way around the rock shelf takes a hell of a lot of patience. And there were many occasions this morning standing over these little guys where I really didn't know if I had what it took to hang around and almost grabbed the camera and took off a few times.
What do they say, 'a watched kettle never boils'? Well, I'm here to confirm that a watched Marine Snail doesn't f***ing move. Ever. Oh, the ones just out of frame will be spinning, literally, around and around, moving up and over each other, one, two or even three bundled on top of each other like a precarious slimy tower. Those ones, just off screen, well they don't stop moving! I bent right down, glaring at the shells that sat there completely still, willing them to shuffle, even just a little. After maybe half an hour, one or two seemed to have moved enough to have been worth filming but otherwise the snails stayed relatively still.
But I'm nothing if not stubbornly persistant and this isn't my first rodeo (thanks Dr. Phil for the catch phrase) and I waited and waited, watching the app on my phone as much as the snails themselves, only stopping the filming once I got over 30 seconds of footage hoping that in that time I would have captured more than my often impatient eye could see. And I'm so damn glad I waited because once I got home (okay, after I got home and had a snooze) I watched the little film and that rock shelf was absolutely pumping! Loads of snails, stretching right off into the distance, grazing on the algae and the tiny bits of dead plants and animals that make up the ocean soup, going about their life, just very, very slowly. I need to take a leaf out of their book!
"Built in the 8th century by Pallavas, carved out of the rock what you see below the Gopuram (temple's tower). Moreover, the deity's statue inside is also carved out of the same rock.
The deity is called 'Nara-simhar'-the human being with a head of a lion. 'Nara-simhar' here is depicted with 3 eyes - 2 human eyes with which one sees the external world and the other as a representation of a 'Conscious eye' or the 'Third Eye' to see things 'as they are', without any judgement." Went to this temple with my Mom and her Sister. Loved the ambience and fresh air within that atmosphere. Snapped this pic on my DJI Osmo action looking through those leaves! Oh Yeah!
