Day 50: A Pitcher of Flowers.
9” by 12” acrylic on paper. $25
Well that’s a wrap!
Creating something new every day 50 days has been a good practice and a challenge. I am excited for the things ahead and focusing on more than single day projects. I’m also looking forward to being able to take my time with a painting!
Thanks for keeping up with me so far, and putting up with my sporadic posting. Y’all are the best :)
I am somewhat busy with painting, keeping up with floral invoices and thinking about how to best enjoy this fall season without just watching it go by. Some days all the rich colour overwhelms me 😅
All my recent work as well as the two live paintings from the weekend are now online!
I have my work up @cityperkscoffee until the end of this week! If you ever have questions about me and my work feel free to email or DM me. #lifewithfawn
One of the things I love most about Paris is green spaces. They are always well maintained, with different plants depending on the season. This drawing is inspired by a very small square in the 5th arrondissement, the 'Marius Constant Square'. The yellow flower is (very likely!) a Rudbeckia.
On Sunday I had the opportunity to play around in the studio but instead of putting paint to paper I emptied out my old tackle box of art supplies and gave them all new homes. It feels really REALLY weird to think that I’ve been carrying around these black pastels since the early 2000s and now they will have a home. And hopefully disappear. Artists friends who went to school: what did you use to transport tour supplies around campus?? I’d be delighted to hear your stories. #collegewasSOlongago#iwouldbeabetterstudentnow#toomuchpartying#iowastateuniversity

I’m finding myself at a bit of a crossroads in my life. When my boys were little it was busy and full of energy, and I remember just trying to survive until nap time and then until bedtime, it was a blur but a blur filled with snuggles and laughter and milestones met and so much cuteness I could barely handle it. •
Fast forward a decade and my boys are all teens and there are so many, many things that are wonderful, and astounding, and remarkable about them and life has also become so much heavier, weightier and emotionally taxing. I find myself looking for guidance, for a mentor, someone to ask my many questions to so I don’t mess up this parenting gig forever. I find all my weaknesses bubbling to the surface unsure of how to mold them into the kind of parent I want to be and also unsure of how to actually get there. I don’t have older siblings or older cousins and my mother (the voice of wisdom and creative solutions) passed away prematurely a few years ago. Of course you can bet that I’ve offered up many many prayers and of course put out a plea to my mother on the other side of heaven to send me guidance and answers to life’s perplexities. I’m a firm believer that answers can come from God but often they come through others. •
I’m sure I’m not alone in this, we all have struggles that we need answers to, whether it be for parenting, finances, health concerns, business matters, relationship matters and a thousand other matters of the heart. 💕Who do you turn to for guidance? For mentorship or advice? For a listening ear?

Outward appearances are not always what they seem to be. Sometimes we smile to hold back tears. We all have a voice inside ourselves, take time to listen. Become aware.
We can not receive our true blessings in life if we are holding on to the past. Let go!
We can't hold on to what isn't. We must face the truth. Prune our lives, only then will we truly grow.

Today on the blog I’m talking about how to choose a brand or web designer.
Choosing someone to work with seems like a pretty straightforward process. Until you get started. Then you realize you have a million different questions and no idea where to begin. As business owners, we have all been there before.
This blog covers 7 specific areas you should consider before making a decision. Even if you’re not in the market for a designer right now, it will give you some important things to keep in mind for the future.
Link in bio. I hope you find it useful and informative but more importantly, I hope it leads to finding your perfect design match 🙌🏻
I'm keeping busy trying to teach myself abstract painting - of sorts. It's bloody difficult letting go when you're a straight line and everything in a box sort of girl. I shall persevere. The old book I use as my canvas does help. I have used tracing paper as a divider to keep the pages from sticking.
Watch this space, I shall post more photos of my attempts ..
Pardon me but second photo is upside down.
**NEW WORKSHOP** Our spring sessions workshop is now online. This will be our last 3 week course for 2019. Which is a little scary, where is the time going?
In this 3 week class we will teach you how to design, draw, cut, print and edition your reduction lino.
The first night is all about shape and design - this is where the fun starts! Settle in with a glass of wine and some cheese as we go through the design process and draw from an elaborate floral still life. Absolutely no pressure or prior knowledge of printmaking necessary! At the end of this class each student will have a design drawn and transferred to their lino tile.
The second night is focused around printing and colour! In this class you'll be cutting your tile and starting to build layers of colour on your print. We will teach you about registration and how to edition your print. •
The third night will be spent adding your final 2 layers of colour to your design and framing your work ready to be hung on the wall at home.
Get your ticket via the link in our bio, spots are limited for this class. 🌼
I made a big announcement last week (abstract artwork collection releasing September 19th at noon! 💫) but I didn’t tell you that there will *also* be abstract OIL PAINTINGS! These pieces are deeply inspired by my painting palettes, the dances of fat-footed babes, piano lessons, and afternoon rosé — but all that in fine art format. 😍 I am Sooo excited but this new work and this collection is growing every day. Mama is on a roll!
Each and every painting brings a fresh light and joy to my heart and I cannot wait to share that with you!
SEPTEMBER 19th 🎨💫
30 1,41512 September, 2019
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted a process time-lapse! This was mainly due to the fact that I was printing in a basement for a few months over the summer, and the lighting was pretty yellowy & grim for video.
I really missed sharing some longer clips of my block printing process, so here’s one of me printing my “abstract fruits” pattern today on a cotton tea towel. I really enjoy this one because it’s simple, yet random. It’s a full-coverage pattern that only requires two different stamps, one ink color, and no planning!
Each time I print this one, it’s different every single time because I haven’t created one set rhythm or “path” for this pattern. However, it is important to pay close attention to the positive and negative spaces that the two stamps create together because if you don’t, the composition as whole could end up feeling wonky. It’s also important to make sure that both stamps are evenly utilized, creating a sense of balance overall. I like to think of it as asking myself, “how are these shapes communicating with one another?” throughout the entirety of the print.
Other than that, this pattern is a fun design exercise of shape rotation and nesting, and there’s never one right way to do it ✨
