I think part of the reason why we struggle to make time to rest and relax is because many of us find it hard to be alone with ourselves without the TV, phone or books. ⠀
We’re so externally oriented that we’re always looking outward for stimulation, entertainment and fulfilment. ⠀
So when we stop to relax and be with ourselves we can be faced with a tsunami of feelings that we usually mask with busyness:⠀
It’s no wonder we postpone spending time with ourselves, alone. ⠀
Rest and relaxation brings these vulnerabilities to the surface. ⠀
And so we are faced with this paradox: we desperately crave rest and relaxation yet we can’t bear being with ourselves. ⠀
I was like this too. I knew I needed to rest, I knew how to rest, but I avoided it because I didn’t want to FEEL. ⠀
I wanted to maintain the veneer that I was in control, rather than admitting to myself that I could barely hold it together. ⠀
One way that eased the discomfort of being with myself was to focus on the breath. My teacher Steve James taught me to “be intimate with the breath, without imposing on the breath”. ⠀
Basically to let the breath happen without any attempt to control the breath. ⠀
Not trying to make the breath longer, deeper or smoother. Just observing the body’s natural response to its need for oxygen. ⠀
This is an exercise in letting go of control and recognising that our body can be trusted, that it ‘has our back’ and that we can let the body lead during times of rest. ⠀
And this technique of trust and surrender can ease us into the journey of becoming internally focused and at ease with ourselves. ⠀
Craving rest? We’re teaching this and more at The Art of Relaxation - link in bio⠀

35 Norman Street, East Brisbane.
Today we are in East Brisbane. This house was quite easy to locate due to the wall in front.
Most of the houses in this street have the same look with either the front roof line continuing down and including the front veranda, or the veranda being separate like pictured.
Quite a lot of properties in this street have also reopened their verandas too which is lovely to see and this house is one of them.
I am unsure as to when this was done, but it appears to have been done before 2008 to say the least. I would assume this is when the owners have added the small gable above the front entrance.
This photograph was found in the Frank and Eunice Corley Collection or as I like to call them, the 1970s version of Google Street View.
For those that don’t know, the Corley Collection is a collection of 61,000 photographs taken in the 1960s and 1970s which have been gifted to the State Library of Queensland in 1995.
Frank and Eunice drove around Queensland from Beenleigh to Bundaberg in their pink Cadillac taking photographs of houses and selling them to their owners as black and white prints for $0.99 or $1.50 for calendars. It is believed that they took over a quarter of a million photographs and the 61,000 (67 boxes) that weren’t sold were the ones donated.
They operated as the Pan American Home Photographic Co., which was a division of F. & E. Corley Interstate Enterprises and Co.
The State Library of Queensland have called for the public to try to help identify the pictures using what they have dubbed, “The Corley Explorer”

Here’s a throwback from when I was in Japan. ⏰⠀
To be honest I was excited but really more nervous - as I remember it. ⠀
Work was pretty full on during this time and lots of responsibilities to heap on to my team.⠀
They however, rose to the challenge and I couldn’t have been prouder! 💯⠀
I further realised how important having a strong team was when I look back and the best part was that I got to enjoy my friends’ wedding and make the best of it.⠀
So a golden advice - treat your team well and they will ultimately save you! 👌⠀

What do you do if your home isn't selling? Here's a quick story...⠀
This property at 13A Adina Street Norman Park was on the market with another agent for 4 months.⠀
During that time they only had 6 groups through and no offers (your worst nightmare as a homeowner).⠀
They called me in to fix the situation and here's what we did (you can use similar strategies for your property)⠀
🎨 A quick internal paint job.⠀
🚰 Replaced the tap-ware.⠀
⭐️ New interior styling.⠀
🌱 Cut back plants and trees.⠀
🌿 Red mulch on the garden.⠀
We then took it back onto the market with a fresh approach.⠀
The result? 51 groups through, 5 offers and it was SOLD in 21 days. 🎉⠀
If you want your home to sell quickly and at the highest price, you need to do the small things right.⠀
It has a compounding effect that allows you to get results like this!⠀
I've got many more case studies just like this. If you're thinking about selling and you want someone who notices the details, give me a call 😄⠀

Walking the streets of East Brisbane today I was reminded of the rich heritage of the area. So for #ThrowbackThursday , here's a picture of the Triumph Theatre on Stanley Street, now the Chinese Kung Fu Academy. The building dates back to 1927, with this image from 1940.

Her consistency and commitment to training over the past 2 months has been exceptional and this has earnt her the Best on Ground award for August 2019. Well done Cin!

Looking for the best location should be your number ONE priority!⠀
The location creates desirability, which then drives the demand to create higher real estate prices. ⠀
Besides the obvious things to look out for like nearby restaurants, grocery stores, and entertainment areas, here are other factors to consider.⠀
👀See the Future of The Location. Buying in less popular locations that have potential lessens risk and lets you benefit from future value appreciation. ⠀
🎓Schools. If you’re buying a home to raise a family and want a good school district, then location becomes more important.⠀
🚌Transportation. Hassle-free commutes to work and school is a top priority for most buyers. ⠀
So what’s the bottom-line? ⠀
It’s not how the house looks that drives the prices up - it’s location!⠀
Having said that - if you’re on the lookout for properties around top locations like Inner East Brisbane just give me a call!⠀

When people refer you to other people - it means they trust you! 😎⠀
A bit of info for those of you who don’t know - getting your registration to become a salesperson takes about 5 days. ⠀
Through the years, the market has steadily increased and more people became real estate agents. 🚶♂️⠀
Since it takes such a short amount of time to get into our industry, I think the best way to know if someone is good at what they do is to ask…⠀
Do they receive a lot of referrals? Do they have people advocating for them? Here's a quick example... 🏡⠀
So I worked with a client who works in a well known school. Through them I met another client, and through that client I met ANOTHER one - you see how it compounds!⠀
The third client actually even said “I’ve heard what you’ve done for my friends and would like you to come around and give the same professional approach in selling my home.” ⠀
And that got me thinking that the power of a referral is CRUCIAL to the success of an agent. 💯⠀
I find that looking into how many people will refer an agent is a really good judge of character. So if you're looking for an agent, ask around and find the agent who is constantly being recommended by other homeowners 👌⠀
