We’ve been meaning to go to @tortello_pastificio for a while now, and we finally made it tonight. This is the tortelli with burrata and sage. It’s excellent. We also tried the carbonara (too salty, lacking the crispy guanciale I’d expect) and the focaccia with ricotta and honey (solid!). The service was minimal but friendly and informed. The ambiance was zero, but everyone seemed to be having a great time. Interesting concept, and I’d try it again in a few months. .

It's #MagnumMonday ! Today we open bottles of Champagne Bollinger Special Cuvée. This fantastic champagne can be enjoyed by the glass this evening at Pops For Champagne.
Bollinger was established in 1829 by Jacques Bollinger and Paul Renaudin. Special Cuvée is the purest expression of Bollinger's house style. Special Cuvée is the result of the delicate blending between harvest grapes and a majority of reserve wines, part of which have been aged in magnums for 5 to 15 years. Its biscuity nose is endowed with hints of white fruit and the rich, full-bodied palate is perfectly balanced by fresh acidity and a soft, delicate mousse.

Sometimes I don’t know my own strength 😁 Stopped by @theroanoke over the weekend to see what’s changed since I was last in a few years ago. I am a firm believer in consistency being an indicator of a truly great restaurant, and I was very happy to see that there are still some big winners on their brunch menu. This simple, but well thought out egg sandwich may have been a little messy to eat, but the flavors were spot on with rich cheese, sweet onions, and a slightly spicy cherry pepper slaw.
The Loyalist cheese burger with onions three ways and fries paired with a glass of Tempranillo from Toro. The burger is a highlight and something worth visiting this basement bar for a delightful mouthful. On Tuesdays, it is daily special including a beer and shot of bourbon, which means you have plans for tomorrow. Delectable! @theloyalistchicago
