Recently there’s been a wave of decluttering in our house. The winter months as we stayed warm inside meant cupboards, drawers and shelves seem to have slowly fill with stuff. Inspired by a recent quote ‘all that clutter, used to be money’ I’ve gathered items that I think could be loved by another and listed these on buy/sell sites. And in just a week $150 has gone into my savings jar (and since spent on a @notperfectlinen dress!). Good quality items that we’ve used and loved that will now be loved by another.
It was a beautiful reminder to buy the very best quality we can afford when we choose to purchase something new. Designed to last for many, many years, be repaired if needed and then passed on for another to use and love.

🤔 You think eating healthy is “expensive”?🤔
👨💻 You’re going to wanna save this for later! ✅
I’m not one to sugar coat things so I’m just going to be real. I hear this ALL THE TIME!! “I’d have a better body if I ate healthy but it’s to expensive😒”. “I eat out because it’s cheaper”. “I’m balling on a budget so I can’t”.
Yeah, whatever.🙄 They’re all just excuses and persuading themselves of why they haven’t gotten to their “goal body”. Eating healthy sure may seem like it’s expensive but it’s really not compared to what most individuals are doing. You just have to visualize the whole picture.
💵❌ The average person will spend around $12 a day eating out. So just off that they are spending $84 a week just on food. Then multiply that by 4 weeks (1 month) and that is $336!!!! That’s insane! That can be a car payment, insurance payment, or even worse, money you simply can’t save.
✅💵 The list up there 👆🏻 is one of the simplest grocery shopping hauls you can have that’ll support weight loss, fat loss, and muscle building. Or even just to eat more healthier.
This will really keep you satisfied for a week and a few days! Also, look at the pricing difference. I can spend $39 and have meals for the whole week when on the other side they’ve spent that $39 in just 3-4 days. For a whole month I’d only have to spend $150 to feed myself. Literally, $180 you’d be saving. Again, that’s half a phone bill, money towards rent or whatever the case may be.
BIGGEST TAKE AWAY FROM THIS:
EATING HEALTHY IS NOT EXPENSIVE!!! That excuse is dead to me.

I think I have to write this up for Rosh Hashanah. Roasted - to the point of caramelization - Kabocha Squash, drizzled with pesto and topped with slow roasted tomatoes. Unintentionally vegan, because we didn't take good care of our feta. Also - because I cannot eat at @holyokehummus every day, my first try of their cuminy chickpea and tomato salad. @mtviewfarm#CSA#eatlocal#farmtotable#vegan

Did you know you can get fresh tuna straight off the docks in the Charleston Marina. Look for the signs “fresh tuna” to get your tuna! It doesn’t get much fresher than this! 🎣
Things are CRAZY BUSY at the moment. We just moved yesterday (same city), but still loads of work. There is stuff everywhere and I had to really prioritize to get the shoots done in advance for this week of Kimberly’s @thelittleplantation food photography challenge.
This week is all about tv shows and the first is Diners Drive Ins and Dives. I haven’t watched a lot of this show, but it seems to be a lot about comfort food. Good, home cooked food. Comfort food takes on a different meaning for everyone. I considered shooting a burger or macaroni, but I am moving and didn’t have much use of the kitchen and figured that burgers would be the main go-to, so instead I shot what I find comforting. A quick meal that hits the spot and leaves me feeling good and energized. Usually that would be salad, but that’s for later in the challenge 😋
Comfort food to me is food that makes me feel good.
This is a plate of local sourdough topped with raw cheddar, prosciutto and avocado 🥑, pb and local organic strawberries, and raw cheddar, local organic tomatoes 🍅 and micro greens. All was bought at the farmers market! Doesn’t get much better than that! Also shot on a plate made by local artists. Doesn’t get much better than that.
What’s your comfort food? 👇
As the garden season wraps up, I’m left with a seemingly endless supply of Swiss chard, a basketful of tomatoes, a bag of dried garlic, heaps of fresh herbs, and a clump of onions waiting to be heaved from the soil. Instead of meal planning the usual way, where one chooses a few recipes and shops for ingredients accordingly, I like to take stock of the foods I have and turn them into a meal. This summer, much of my “meal planning” has revolved around Swiss chard, with my latest use for it going into this Jamaican curry sweet potato soup. It’s super seasonal and uses some of the veggies that ripen on the cusp of summer and fall. I posted more on my blog, but here’s the recipe for convenience:
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 yellow onion, diced
1 green pepper, diced
4 garlic cloves, diced
2 medium tomatoes
1 tablespoon curry powder
1 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp cinnamon
3 cups (or 2, 15 oz cans) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
2 medium sweet potatoes, diced
2 medium carrots, diced
4 cups vegetable broth
1 handful stemmed and diced Swiss chard
1 cup full fat coconut milk (optional)
fresh herbs (thyme or cilantro are my favorites)
Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions and green peppers and cook until the onions are tender and translucent. Add the garlic and stir frequently, for about one minute. Add the tomatoes, curry, sea salt, cumin, and cinnamon, and stir for about 5 minutes, or until the tomatoes release their juices.
Add the chickpeas, sweet potatoes, carrots, and vegetable broth. Bring to a boil over medium heat, reduce to a simmer and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes and carrots are tender.
Remove half the soup and partially puree it with an immersion blender or countertop blender. Return it to the pot and add the Swiss chard. Simmer for 5 minutes until the greens are soft, then add the coconut milk, stir well, and garnish with herbs from the garden. If the soup is too thick, add more broth until you’re happy with the consistency.

I like to eat healthy and very vegetable based food during workdays, but who wouldn’t love a little salty and greasy treat sometimes? I love the theme of #eatcaptureshare challenge (by @thelittleplantation ) for today, because it really challenged me to photograph something I wouldn’t normally put in front of my camera.
It also made me create this new sandwich recipe which I’m totally in love with! It’s filled with apple cider caramelised onions, thin slices of tart green apple and some high quality cheddar cheese. Bread toasted crispy in olive oil. Oh it was so good! And hey, just vegetables (and some cheese) inside, it’s almost healthy, right?
To make the combination of salty and sweet even more divine, this crispy golden pile can be finished with few drops of honey!
What’s your secret unhealthy savoury treat which is perfect comfort food for autumn evenings?

This Monday doesn’t feel like a normal Monday because tomorrow I’m finally heading to our cottage and countryside again. It doesn’t mean not working at all, but it does mean relaxing for both my body and mind. And also a lot of cooking, harvesting and picking mushrooms! I couldn’t ask for anything better right now.
I’m also excited to get to visit our local grocery store again, because it’s always full of amazing ingredients! Maybe I find something as exciting as these organic little pears. I would love to cook and bake with some beautiful seasonal ingredients.
This evening is dedicated to puppy training, so now I need to have a quick dinner before heading there with Usva. I think it will be nice change after working every night during the past weeks.
How are you going to relax this week? Any cooking or baking plans?✨

As you know, I’m all about super quick and easy snacks. Lately I’ve been spending 20 minutes or so though making make-ahead snacks on the weekend for the week, and I gotta say, it’s been AWESOME to have. These peanut butter banana muffins (@sara.haven’s recipe!) keep me full as a snack and are SO delish 🙌🏻.
Don’t forget, just 2 DAYS left to get my program + the 29 best other health & wellness programs all for only $99.99! This is such a good deal that it’s almost hard to adequately express that, and I really, really don’t want you to miss it! And I promise (like, talked to the organizers today to confirm 😂) that it will never be offered again after this!
