I remember, at the beginning of Term 2, feeling out of sorts...feeling very emotional, concerned about just HOW I was going to be able to teach my disadvantaged, low-socioeconomic, high EAL students. They NEED ME in the same room to learn! Many don't have parents who can adequately help them. Nearly ALL of them have zero to minimal ICT skills. I struggled with this for the first three weeks. However, at week 3, I felt a change...and this might not sound all that good. I actually accepted that, no matter what I do, no matter how many instructional videos I send, no matter how many phone calls I make, my students were not going to learn. It was this mentality that saw me survive the next few weeks. I was in blissful ignorance (albeit a conscious one)...I wasn't seeing the everyday struggle that permeates my classroom...I made myself believe that my students were understanding everything.
This video was made when it was possible to be so close, about the time the pandemic reached the shores of India. We were in the villages and had little knowledge of what was happening around the world. Looking back now I have a sense of nostalgia as to what was and where we are now.
This young girl attends a small, private school on the outskirts of her village. We have known each other for over six years, and there's a running joke between us which shows itself towards the end of the video.
Those two words just sounds boring. But the way we manage and spend our money can be the difference between architecting a life that we barely scrape through and a life that is graced with the beauty of flexibility and opportunity.
Before I knew how money worked, I struggled to make sense of it and to feel peace about my future. Now, when we sit down after a car accident, or getting laid of because of the pandemic, or to look at our home buying options, I am reminded of the grace of God and the blessing of learning about money management.
If you are struggling with managing money and want to feel more peace, Id love to share the tips and tools that have blessed my life so abundantly.

Mark your calendars! 2 days until our Executive Director, Dr. Ayanna Gore goes on air with Tony B!
Join in for a resourceful conversation on race in public education and quality of education through virtual transitions.
Essays are common in middle school, high school and college. You may even need to write essays in the business world (although they are usually called "reports" at that point). An essay is defined as "a short piece of writing that expresses information as well as the writer's opinion."
For some, writing an essay is as simple as sitting down at their computer and beginning to type. But, a lot more planning goes into writing an essay successfully. If you have never written an essay before, or if you struggle with writing and want to improve your skills, it is a good idea to follow a number of important steps in the essay writing process.

Today is national Aboriginal and Torres Islander Children’s Day, with this year’s theme “We are the Elders of tomorrow, hear our voice” 🌍
In this week’s kindy yoga classes, we tell the story of Tiddalik - The Frog That Caused a Flood, incorporating the native animals from the story into poses that help the children release physical tension, build strength, improve focus and cultivate community. ☮️
In kindy yoga, every week we are telling a story with our bodies, however in Aboriginal and Torres strait Islander culture, this is how stories have ALWAYS been told. Through movement and voice, passing down this ancient knowledge of the land & life from the elders of the past, by the elders of the present to the elders of the future. This year’s theme is rather apt “We are the elders of tomorrow, hear our voice”....
May we begin to listen, let go of righteous judgement and pay attention with open hearts, minds and ears ❤️🙏

Love is not all you need—that phrase, among others, is often an excuse for unchanged behavior. You should want excellence for your life and the people in it. Know better, do better. Edit accordingly. 🤍🤍🤍 image via @peacefulmindpeacefullife
Literally going back through memory lane ... 〽️🖤💤🎦
This is just a note to myself ..
...you know I think I could’ve done better in school ,I think I would’ve gotten a scholarship, I think I would’ve been an honor roll student , i think I would’ve out stand , because that’s how knowledgeable I think I was , right ? .... but you know what happened ? when I thought I was old enough I began working a full-time shift + hours job at just 15 years old I saw money coming in and and slowly left school aside , I tried keeping up with both at the same time , my momma was alone with my siblings , I felt the need to work , cause I saw her struggling and hustling now as I turn back and look through my memories I wish I could’ve done better and focused in school the way it should have been .. I could possibly be doing even better things now who knows right ? Life happens , it’s never to late to do even better ... life happens, I’m not saying you can’t succeed without school , of course you still can , I’ve met a lot of successful people , who have had so much success even though they had some struggle in their life that made them “Drop Out” it’s called a Hustle, sometimes you gotta do what you have to do .🤷♀️
All I can say and do now is ... definitely encouraging my kids to make wiser better choices, and make them stay in school longer , you learn from your mistakes now help the young ones do better 🙏
money comes when the right time comes at the right mind set ... 💹✅ know that for a fact , send kids off to the world , knowledgeable of what the world actually is , and not what they want to see or think 💭.
Goodnight folks 🙏💕🖤
Anyone else scrambling like a mad woman to prepare for back to school? With us starting virtual tomorrow, I’m feeling out of whack and the stress level is intense. Between trying to change bedtime routines, figuring out daily schedules, balancing my own workouts while keeping her on track and meal plans with no school lunches this mom feels a bit chaotic. But we are all in this together right?
One good change due to COVID- getting to pick a selfie to send in for my school id instead of one in that harsh lighting. 😬 Are there any changes your school has made that have benefits to them?

LETTER MATCH this fun literacy matching game is a great way to practise upper and lower case letter recognition. I simply ruled the grids onto the pieces of recycled card, placed a letter sticker into the centre grid and then wrote some lower case letters around the edge. We then just pegged the matching letters. So easy and fun!! #CINTA_numeracy#recycleandplay

Let's support the National Education Policy
India released a new National Education Policy last week which included some revolutionary changes that will overhaul the entire education system from ground up.
However, we were surprised to see a fair deal of hatred online. In this video, we talk about some of the provisions of the NEP and bust some of the misinformation being spread online.
Please read the National Education Policy on the Ministry of HRD's website. It is available in English and Hindi.

One of the best things about my job? Clients who put in the work and who want to learn!
Personal training doesn't just mean telling clients what to do and when to do it, but educating on why we should do certain things, how it will benefit them, ways in which they can improve and progress and so on.
The aim is to help you to achieve your goals, whilst also teaching you how to get (and stay) there!

If Beale Street Could Talk is a beautiful and deeply sad book full of important issues and smooth prose. This was my first James Baldwin and his writing is such an interesting mix of casual and rich language, a combination that I love. I really enjoyed Baldwin’s discussion of the concept of truth and how many things can be true and false at once. For those of you wanting to read more books relating to blm and the unfair imprisonment of black men, then this one is for you. What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it? ❤️

We are often taught what to do, not how to think.
Traditional education systems are demand-driven and designed to serve one outcome: to make us employable; not to make us creative problem-solvers and shapers of a globalized future.
As a result, we don't ask questions. We accept prescribed notions. We live within a comfortable space we call the status quo.
Because of that, it takes a lot of self-directed effort to truly prepare ourselves for the future. And that's something I want to AMPLIFY to the world.
I've been a self-starter all my life. Always an average student; ever-curious, but never quite the achiever.
Yet I'm glad I didn't let grades define me. Instead, I let meaningful experiences enrich me. After much dabbling, I understood more about the world. I discovered my passion.
Know this: the digital age favors self-starters. Technology has leveled the playing field and gave everyone a fighting chance to be heard.
So, next time you feel totally unaccomplished, know that opportunity is right at your fingertips.
TAKE. ADVANTAGE. OF IT. ✨

Let’s just say branding photos day yesterday went super well... 😍 SO. MANY. GOOD ONES. And you’ll get to see a WHOLE bunch of them at once with my big launch coming this MONDAY (whoa, that’s only 4 days away 😱). Any final guesses what it is?! Only two of you guessed it correctly in my DMs so far!!! Can’t wait to reveal it to you all! 🎉 #stephaniekasepresets
P.S. See those earrings I’m wearing? Those are the only ones you’ll see in these headshots because I forgot all my other pairs at home... it happens 😂
Around this time every year (and maybe earlier) EM PGY3s and PGY4s are thinking about the next step of their careers...
Some trainees choose to go to fellowships immediately after graduation. Some of these fellowships like EMS, toxicology, Critical Care, Pediatric EM etc are ACGME accredited and some are not like Ultrasound, Simulation, Global Health, Wilderness Medicine, Geriatrics, CV Emergencies, Wellness etc. Some of these fellowships are in “The Match” like Informatics, Sports Medicine etc while some are not in “The Match” like Aerospace Medicine, Forensic EM, Disaster Medicine etc.
🚨 Pursue your interest
🚨 Helps you develop your niche in such a diverse field
🚨 Refine your skills, further your training, ability to work in a different setting (Ex EMS, CCM, Hyperbarics etc). (IMO never actually hurt to be more educated)
🚨Some jobs will give you protected time for teaching or practicing your skill with small reduction in clinical hours.
🚨Sometimes may be a path to get a job in certain area, institution etc ESPECIALLY in times of hiring freezes like COVID19
🚨 Ability to be certified in certain procedures
𝕎𝕙𝕪 𝕟𝕠𝕥 𝕗𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨𝕤𝕙𝕚𝕡?
⏳ It’s another 1 or 2 years of a lower salary...definitely a BIG difference especially ACGME accredited fellowships
⏳ If you want to practice community medicine and have no specific interests.
⏳ If you’ve already found what you like without one! 😎
⏳Your dream location doesn’t have what you want.
🔌 It’s NOT too late to go back and do fellowship if something really interests you but most people don’t because of the 💵. I’ve seen it happen. EVERYONE has their own path. 👣
🔌 Just because an hospital doesn’t have a certain fellowship doesn’t mean you can’t help pioneer a process for its creation if the resources are there.
NOTE: Consult the EMRA Fellowship Guide for the most comprehensive info! 😆
