Happy Monday, friends! What are you reading lately that inspires you and sparks your imagination? I’m reading 𝓛𝓲𝓷𝓷𝓮𝓽𝓼 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓥𝓪𝓵𝓮𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷𝓼 by Elizabeth Goudge. While I’m unsure if I’ll read this one to my children, in part because of how magic is handled (guardian bees, a book of dark spells, a wicked cat) I am inspired by Uncle Ambrose’s approach to education. This character is a retired schoolteacher, now vicar, who would like to be thought cantankerous but actually is kind and humorous. Uncle Ambrose knows how to inspire both hard work and imagination. He makes the children learn chores, Latin, and Bible verses but also walks with the children into their imaginary stories and knows how to seamlessly weave poetry and story and fact. I love this quote from the book and hope I will learn to be a teacher who can make learning a joy! .
“And all he described they saw with their inside eyes, so that the pictures in the books were scarcely necessary, and the words that he used fell chiming, so that they remembered the sequence of them as one remembers the sequence of the notes in a tune.”
I'm not very good about posting on a regular basis. Nothing to do with working out... which I've still been doing regularly. Just a post to say hi and to remember to enjoy life a little bit!
Friday I dropped my boyfriend off at campus and took a short solo trip to the beach and it was such a nice little reset!
Watching the world pass me by... because I'm in a moving car. For reals though, lately my anxiety has been through the roof. I've been having this mini existential crisis feeling like I'm not where I need to be in my life. Which makes me feel like I need to do everything NOW. Trying out some things like journaling and getting some vitamin D to try an de-stress and take life a day at a time. ☀️☀️
“Just enjoy where you are now.”
Realise that you have worked hard to be here, and although you might not be at your desired destination, you are so damn deserving of a moment of celebration for yourself. 🤸🏼♀️
So take a moment to sit back, relax and enjoy where you are right now and how proud of yourself you are...even for the little things 💋.
