Fri ya ! We are having a very small bon voyage party for our nephew Wyatt . We wish him much luck and happiness in his new life in California. I thought the occasion called for sangria! It’s so easy and yummy. I also made savory herb shortbread. These savory shortbread pair perfect with wine. This is the first time since the pandemic that we have had family over, so looking forward to seeing everyone. #sangria#grazingboard#entertainingathome#family

My third oak bowl has been posted on Etsy! Check it out there—link in bio.
This one-of-a-kind oak bowl is hand turned and finished with a durable, food safe polish. A branch from a tree in my yard provided the wood for this item. This is the third bowl made out of that one branch. Locally sourced wood is my favorite wood to work with, because it is so eco friendly!
Always have salt, pepper, or other spices close at hand with this bowl. The cook or foodie in your life will enjoy this bowl for years to come!
Because this item is handmade, and because of natural variations in wood, every bowl is unique. No one else will have a bowl like yours!

🍷 Pairing Notes 🍷 When pairing food with wine, two important things to keep in mind are acidity and sweetness. The wine should be sweeter and more acidic than the food but they should have balanced levels of intensity.
During tonight’s Wine & Cheese Workshop, we tasted a rich, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon from @galeriewines. To create balanced bites, we built a cheese board full of complex cheeses, ripe, juicy fruits, savory sopressata and crunchy herby nuts.
What’s your favorite wine and cheese pairing? I’m learning so much about the world of wine pairings through this series and love learning along with you! Details on weeks 4-5 coming soon! 🧀🍷

A few years ago my bestie Dani @rosestoryfarm and I went to a floral workshop in Scotland hosted by @cultivatedbychristin. Christin elevates floral design to fine art, and as a beautiful gift to us all she shares her wisdom and gorgeousness in her new book "Cultivated: The Elements of Floral Design". Today, drum roll please… Christin “arranges” my account and you are in for a treat. When she agreed to take over my account to share her work with you all, I could not wait to see what she would come up with! Click on my stories where Christin is profiling "Five Things to Learn (about floral design) from the Baroque". Enjoy!

New post on the blog ——> Tropical Table Decor: Peacock and Floral Motifs. I love experimenting with playful prints and vibrant colors for summer time. Blues, greens, yellows - the great thing about summer is the plethora of the colors you can style. So when I found this new dinnerware collection with its peacock and floral pattern, I knew I had to have it. I will be able to mix and match pieces from this collection all summer long, which is a huge bonus and just makes the versatility of this collection even better. All of the details on the blog . . . .
I can’t wait for the day we can fill our house with the friends and family we haven’t seen in months.
I’m one of those people that thrives on connection. I’m a straight up hugger, if I love you I’ll tell you and if I can have a person in my presence (even if we aren’t chatting) I’m happy.
I must say the kitty’s help. I talk to them A LOT. Yes they do talk back, just not in so many words.
But their affection and facial expressions and hilarious array of quirky habits are enough to make one feel like they’re with their best friend.
Just ask my husband.
But we need our friends and family.
FaceTime can’t replace what coffee (or wine) with a bestie does for the soul.
In the same way a kindle could never replace the feeling of holding the actual pages of your favourite book, we need presence.
Not virtual presence. Physical presence.
While we have been so grateful to have technology over this time, there is no possible way it can replace the need for human connection in a physical form. A hug, a smile and a big fat case of the giggles.
So to honor our girl gang, the family we miss or just your bestie who you are struggling to live without...
tag them in the comments below to remind them that hugs, wine and love are in order as soon as Covid allows.
