The kind of view I could admire for hours and hours. Turks and Caicos is breathtaking! 💙🇹🇨💙 You’ve got to see this for yourself to truly get it. Have you ever been to a place that photos and videos can’t do justice?
Still reeling from the gravity of yesterday’s news. I’m trying to focus on gratitude for beautiful moments like this one with my girls.
As I mature (because I refuse to get “older”) I realize that traveling to unfamiliar places is what my soul secretly yearns for. Making this big, big world just a little smaller.
Thanks to @explorewhitefish for an amazing experience. Montana has more beauty than I could have ever imagined.

I’m physically in Los Angeles, but mentally, I’m still sitting on this dock in Venice, Italy. Listening to the singing gondoliers rowing by..✨ .
🌎What’s your first travel destination of 2020? Im so excited for this year. I have a few trips booked and I cannot wait to see more of the world! 🙈🤩💛 .
💫My goal is 4 international trips a year, as of right now, I have 3, where should i go last? DROP SOME RECOMMENDATIONS BELOW! ✍🏾
I’ve been reflecting lately on how much my natural hair journey has been tied to my travels. Looking at this picture, I can’t believe there was once a time where I “couldn’t” get my hair wet or enjoy water-based activities 😯 Before I went natural in 2015 (hard to believe it’s been that long) I used to routinely straighten my hair every two weeks. I claimed it was because it was “easier to manage,” but realistically it because it was more socially acceptable.
Spending so much time in the Caribbean forced me to accept my texture and learn to adapt, or be doomed to forever look crazy 😩 It’s been a journey y’all! At the beginning it was so bad that my mom staged an intervention and brought me a bag full of products to tame the frizz when she came to visit 😂 Maybe one day I’ll share a before and after 😬
How many of you are curly girls or naturalistas? I get almost as many questions about my hair as I do my trips, and I can’t wait to share more hair tips this year! 😁

Death is painful, but it increases love❤️
I’ve noticed that there’s so many flowers given when we’re gone, but not enough soups given when we’re sick. Let’s not take the people we love for granted. Let’s show more love, kindness and appreciation NOW😢❤️ #MambaMentality#KobesStillInspiring

Make time for what really matters and let go of what doesn’t. All we have is moments —> enjoy them. 🖤 @riseofmelon .
I am full of gratitude even more today, for all that I actually have ... My family. Both near and far.🖤
My heart is broken for all the families affected by the tragic loss yesterday. I pray that God is hugging them with love, comfort and mercy right now🙏🏾.

Happy Monday! This weekend has been hectic. Let’s make it through this week and put our best foot forward. On a lighter note, how do you choose your travel destinations? I tend to choose based on people, food, and activities. 💜💛
Last night Carson slept in the bed with me and it didn’t even bother me that he hit me several times, that he kept me up with his snoring, had his knee imploding my side, that he spread out and only left me a little slither of my king sized bed or that he absolutely invaded my space. I was just happy that he was THERE, HEALTHY, ALIVE!!! We as humans often complain about the small things, procrastinate on our goals and dreams, and forget that waking up in the morning is a privilege!! You got a dream?
You got a goal?

That face when you finally have health coverage in the US!! I’ve honestly been living on Excedrin and a prayer the past year: True life of the self employed/freelancers.
To piggyback off my last post, many sacrifices have been made to live the life that you see in the photos here. This is something that many people don’t talk about, simply because it’s not glamorous or insta-worthy. Paying your own taxes, not having healthcare/paying out of pocket for it, and not receiving a regular paycheck - to name a few. These are all things that I’ve learned to adjust to over the past few years.
Mind you, I’ve always been covered in some form. I chose to pay travel insurance(which includes health/dental emergencies) instead of US Healthcare since I was out of the country 90 percent of the time anyway. Not to mention, foreign medical costs tend to be significantly lower so I figured that it would potentially cost less if I needed care outside of the US anyway. Heck, medical tourism is HUGE and I know so many US citizens who travel for affordable procedures/care/support. Nonetheless, It was a gamble and I’m SO grateful that my current state of health has even allowed me to make this kind of choice. Despite the fact that I travel so often, it’s rare that I ever get sick and that certainly played a role in my decision to forgo that cost. It becomes that much more difficult if you’re a US citizen with a chronic health condition(especially in the US but that’s a whole different conversation ugh 😒), so I can certainly recognize my privilege in that area. Now I’m happy to be in a place where I can afford health coverage as a freelancer. Time to schedule some appointments!
Freelancers, digital nomads, entrepreneurs, and heck...even those that have coverage with their jobs...how do you manage health coverage? Is it a legitimate worry/concern? Have you ever engaged in medical tourism?

Whether you’re starting, creating, building, or continuing something, anything...in 2020 - I hope you choose to keep going. [[swipe for more of the story]] if you remember my first solo trip to Costa Rica, you’re OG!! If you’ve found me since then, thank you for choosing to follow along ❤️
HOW TO PLAN YOUR FIRST SOLO TRIP(save this)
That time I bought a flight to Paris to see drake w a girl who hosted me on couchsurfing 2 years prior then had a true rollercoaster of an adventure around the city with a special someone I’d met in a hostel 2 years before. Oh & i booked a lil photo shoot on Airbnb adventures, bc duh. Good times. Few of many memories & connections that came from solo travel. I know many of you will cross solo travel off your 2020 bucketlist & I have some tips to help you get started:
Plan out the first few days - It may sound cute to ~go w the flow~ , but a lil of planning goes a long way if you’re new to this. Less overwhelming!
Research ALL THE THINGS - Research Blogs, articles, forums, fb groups, etc. It’s easy to overlook stuff when you’re planning alone. Look up: travel docs required, airport transfers, what (not) to wear, best area to stay, common scams, things to do.
Join Travel Focused FB Groups - listen to ppl that have been. Read Girls Love Travel And Solo Female Traveler Network.
Sleep In Social Accommodation - IMO nighttime can be the loneliest, so it helps to know there are other people around. I don’t prefer quiet hotels. Meet other travelers in hotels w common areas, private room in Airbnb, hostels, etc.
Choose Location WISELY - Should be central or near activities. This also helps save on Ubers. Obv not in a isolated, dark area or sketchy areas(check google images)…for safety.
Start Small - If necessary, pick a location w/ common language or a nearby city to ease your way into solo travel
Don’t Over or Under plan - Underplan & you won’t know wtf to do. Overplan & you miss out on spontenaiety, which is the essence of solo travel
Pack Light - Nobody to carry your bags or watch them while you go pee…lmao, so pack light
Arrive at daytime, trust your gut, stay vigilant, don’t post in real time, DO YOU - It’s your trip, you can sleep if you want to. No compromising. Toss out the arbitrary list of ‘must do’s’ & embrace the freedom! THIS IS WHY WE TRAVEL SOLO.
Are you planning on traveling solo this yr?If on the fence, what’s stopping you?
MANIFEST YOUR TRAVEL GOALS! I’m so excited to announce our 2020 partnership with @trover#TroverPartner . Trover is a photo sharing app where each beautiful picture comes with a mini travel guide, giving you detailed information on the location.
You can also create wishlists from other people’s photos to manifest your travel goals into reality! I’m all about manifesting and believe when you create your goals with intention and work towards them they come true.
We’ve put together our 2020 travel wishlist on Trover and you can click the link in bio to view it. I encourage you to download Trover and create your own as well, it’s easier to work towards something when you’ve taken the thought out of your mind and put it somewhere you can view daily.
What’s on your 2020 Travel Wish List? Do you believe in manifesting? Why or why not?

Side Hustles to Save For Travel In 2020 -
Okay, so I did a post sharing how to save for travel(3 posts back) but what if you don’t have disposable income? What if you have nothing left over to save? I gotchu!!
Brand Ambassador - Literally the easiest side hustle ever. Pass out fliers/samples at events & stores for $20/hr. Done this since college & found gigs on craigslist talent + event section.
Graphic Design - Acquire clients via social media & @upworkinc . Put templates on @canva and @pinterest - boom, passive income.
Airbnb - Empty room in your home? Put it on @airbnb & use that $ to pay off your rent. Know how to take photos, give tours, write, pole dance, guide hikes, do yoga, literally anything??? Host tourists on @airbnbexperiences or @airbnbadventures . No home needed.
Social Media- @youtube@instagram@twitter You don’t need a big following or sponsorships. Have a small business? Use local hashtags. With 500 followers, you could literally be booked & busy.
Sell clothes/belongings - I sold my clothes & furniture on @facebookmarketplace and @platoscloset when I quit my job - quick & easy cash. Try online sites like @poshmark@ebay .
Cosmetology - Hair always did? Install hair. Nails did? Do nails. Know how to do lashes? Install!! Know how to do make up? Beat face!! Imagine the extra $
@uber/@lyft - all you need is a car. And actually you don’t, they’ll loan you a car(deducted from pay).you’ll have stories for days.
Bartender/Waitress - Just think of the $ rolling in on those weekend nights. Pay your flight off in a weekend.
Commercial Extra - I’m in @amazon commercial somewhere. Made $300 in one day as an extra. Search fb for casting companies in your city.
English teacher/tutor - earn $22/hr w @thevipkidlife@qkids_teachonline@dada_social
Housecleaning(@handy_hq), dogwalking(@roverdotcom), photo editor, online writing, virtual assistant, meal plans, affiliate marketing. GIRL THE COIN IS OUT THERE!!Secure the bag.I’ll be on a few of these bc I’m trying to aggressively pay off student loans but these side hustles can pay for your whole trip!! Have you done any of these? Share to inspire others!
