The main @alternativeapparel showroom and warehouse is down the road from our office. This is super helpful because 1. It allows us to see, feel and try on all of our blanks before deciding on the perfect garment and 2. It helps keep our carbon footprint down in the production process. #wearopeneast

I receive a lot of questions regarding ‘ethically sourced stones’. The short answer is that this term is nothing more than good marketing. My husband and I mine a lot of our own material or are friends with miners who unearth many of our stones. Unless you personally know every miner of every stone that you have or will purchase in the future, you will never guarantee that the stones are ethically sourced, especially if they’re imported from other countries who literally have hundreds of people in a hole in the ground churning through the earth. I don’t give a damn what retailers will try to tell you, they don’t know either. This is the reality of it. Please don’t let retailers give you the “ethically sourced” buzzwords unless they literally got the material straight from the miner...and I’m not talking about ordering it from a Brazilian miner’s website. Most retailers don’t know where the stones come from, other than country of origin, when they get them from their suppliers. Many retailers don’t even know what stones they have, often times because they rely on their supplier to inform them...which is not their job. Let me tell you something, suppliers don’t care, they’re about the bottom line unless they’re miners themselves. So retailers, unless they actually have real experience working with stones, which many these days do not, are an easy sell for a supplier who just wants to make money. I see it every day, especially on social media. Don’t be fooled, be an educated buyer.

New date idea: order a box of @miamifruit and try exotic fruits with your person - it’s really fun 😜
Obviously it’s so bomb having rare, exotic fruits shipped to me here in Colorado but the coolest part about @miamifruit is that they are a sustainable and ethical company from the farming itself to the shipping material. We get to choose where our dollar goes and I’m all about it going to companies like @miamifruit (& I really just like fruit and trying new ones🤤)

Improve your energy! Release negativity! 🍃🍃
I love diffusing these three oils! Especially if I am traveling or in a new place! They are so cleansing, refreshing, and energizing! 😊
Siberian fir is grounding, emotionally balancing, and supports the respiratory system. 🌲
Melaleuca is cleansing and purifying to the air and supports the immune system. 🍃
Lemongrass boosts positive energy and helps reset your mental attitude. It is so great for mindset, and all three together are the ultimate mindset combo! 🍋
Diffuse this blend when you say affirmations, need to cleanse the air, or need a mental reset. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Tag a friend who could use this combo!
Message me if you don’t have oils yet! I would love to help you out! 😊
Putting aside the ethics argument for a minute (and not a minute more), this is why fashion matters. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The amount of resources and energy that it takes to produce a garment that the majority of people only wear four times is absurd. We need to change the way we shop and ultimately the way we consume. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It doesn’t matter so much what type of shopper you are, what’s important is that whenever money is exchanged in return for a product, you are choosing the value of your well earnt cash, and what type of world you want to support.
A purchase shouldn’t be a mere waltz to the mall absent-mindedly; it’s a place where you use your voting power for the better.
So instead of heading to the mall on the weekend, we wrote a piece on our five steps to a GOOD purchase. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
◾️Step 1? Refuse. Before you make a purchase, look at what you already have. Think outside the box in case another item will serve the same purpose too. Will this old mug make a good pen holder? Will this broken plate be a handy saucer for my plant?
This step also involves refusing those big red signs reading “SALE”. When billboards and advertisements scream at you with offers of 50% OFF, it’s hard to resist. Whilst saving money is awesome when you need something, making a purchase simply because it’s on sale, without ever thinking you needed it until you saw it was on sale, is not saving money; it’s spending money you weren’t going to spend.

Date night glam last night 💁🏻♀️: The we-live-in-the-country edition. 😆 🥾 We drove to the one coffee shop that’s open past 3, got capps to go and walked through the mud for a few hours while it got dark. It was perfect. .
I’m way more me in wellies and a bit of mud than any level of glammed up and honestly any time I go to any work event I feel the least stylish and the most out of place... but I’ll take my second hand/recycled bottle clothes and country mud any day. Both of us would way rather walk and talk than go to a fancy restaurant. And we’d rather spend money on ice cream to eat at home in sweats than on a babysitter to go out. 🤷🏻♀️ .
But we realized we’ve been hitting our evenings too tired to actually want to talk to each other 😆 so we knew we needed to carve out time to talk, to listen to each other, be together without madame secretary and ice cream and to just laugh and chat and truly connect on a date. So last night we snuck one in and it was perfect. .
(Thanks to @victoriasspongesteyning for the Sunday capps and my wonderful parents for hanging out with the kids. ❤️) .
And, if you need a real date connection time with a spouse or someone in your life, this is your reminder to book one in for this week. 🙌🏼 📆
