My second trip after moving to London was a short hop over to Galway, Ireland to visit an amazing fellow expat friend for a weekend. Three of us went on one of the rainiest, soaked-to-the-bones bike riding adventures across Inis Mór in the middle of November! I don't think I have ever been so happy to be so freezing and wet. It was all worth it to see a great friend and all the spectacular views of the rainy Aran Islands. Definitely an adventure to remember!
French Blitzkrieg: 1806 Battle of Jena-Aurstedt
In 1806, after the war of third coalition Austrian Empire was out of the war with a humiliating peace treaty and the Holy Roman Empire was collapsed by the emperor of France “Napoleon Bonaparte”. He also announced himself as the protector of Confederation of Rhine and promiced giving the Hannover back to Britain in exchange for peace.(Hannover actually belonged to Britian but was occupied by France during the war and given to Prussia). Because of these reasons, Prussians decided to join the fourth coalition against France. Therefore, they put their plan into action, inaved saxony and recruited 20,000 local militia. Napoleon warned Prussia to retreat from Saxony, but they did take no notice. This meant war.
According to Prussian plans they would move to Stutgart and cut the supply lines between French armies that were in Germany and Paris. But this plan was not well planned due to the fact that Prussian military doctrines and officers were old and did not have the qualifications to design a good plane, the Prussian soldiers however were brave and well trained unlikely the Prussian upper-stage. Napoleon on the other hand were planning to move directly to Berlin and sign a quick peace treaty with Prussia and force them to accept the French superiority in German states.
Both France and Prussia had about 200,000 soldiers, however there was no unity in the Prussian army and it had three formal leaders. Because of this disadvantage Prussians could not move fast as much as the French.
