First few visits are the hardest, especially after some time away
Progress is made by consistency
Not all workouts will be the best
Fuel before exercise makes my body happy
Anything is possible with focus on incremental improvement
Going too hard, too fast or too heavy too fast always results in injury
Ego gets left at home
There is a magical time post-workout with those endorphins flowing, sweat dripping and smile spreading from ear to ear knowing I completed something
Being a gym-goer, class-goer, outdoorsy-goer is not required to start working out
Something we hear we shouldn't do during pregnancy. WHY?
The baby can put pressure on our vessels that carry blood back to our heart and lungs.
"𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗱𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸?"
Here is what I tell my clients.....
If the baby is causing enough pressure to affect your body, your body will tell you:
🔹 Light headedness
🔹 Short of breath
These symptoms will most likely come on gradually which you can take as a gentle signal to move. (no need for alarm bells)
🔹 Unless your care provider has told you that you must remain off your back for some reason, try it for the exercise/movement you want to do.
🔹 If you get any of the above symptoms, just move and try again another time.

Become the best version of yourself but don't forget to not lie to yourself. It is nice to have a good body but it's even nicer to know that you achieved it naturally. It will take longer, but the sport of bodybuilding is a marathon not a sprint.

There are things that we should all be doing everyday and not just those that compete in a high performance arena whom I coach.
One of these, is to identify what your subjective trigger to performance is, what is your statement that you whisper to yourself before a performance? What is your pre-performance ritual? A line from a movie? “Life ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward”? Maybe a prayer? Maybe it’s a series of movements that help you calm and focus yourself. Take time to identify what these are in you and utilise them, too many people don’t know what their subjective triggers are, sit still and breathe and think of what motivates, inspires and ignites you into performance.
A great one from @jessicajaneapplegate is that she is a tiger in a cage and that on her last turn she is unleashed from her cage, “cage rattles, cage rattles, cage rattles, cages opens...GO!” This visualisation is a performance trigger, and considering her gold medals, it works.
I instilled one in a good friend of mine @big.mitch.1989 when I coached him “strength and confidence” a mantra to instigate a performance mindset, even adopting a different persona, triggered by what is so subjectively effective.
What’s mine? “Fear kills more dreams than failure”. Quite often I would overwhelm myself, go for what you want, now I doubt my personality more than I will ever doubt my performance, I know that all I ever need, is a shot.
