As 2019 comes to a close and a new year quickly approaches, I think about how I want to see myself living a far more creative life than I have in a long time. As much as I enjoy photographing nature, I also love portraiture and visual storytelling.
This particular image was made during a shoot while living on the Carolina coast a few years ago. I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to collaborate with some very wonderful people who appreciated my work and who were willing to allow me to carry out my vision.
In 2020, I’m hoping to put more faces in front of my lens. And to tell more stories.

I cannot get over these shots! I just want to show some extra appreciation to my good friend and photographer @pb.equine.photography . 💕✨ Paige captures the magic and buzzing excitement in every shot. The creative and independent planning is an attribute that I’ve always admired in her work. An attribute that I know will foster continuous growth in her work - Ive never met a young person with so much vigour for their craft. (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️). I’m so lucky to have these moments captured to commemorate this new chapter with Aroura. I’m super excited to continue working with this fantastic mare. 💕 Thank-you Paige for being you, and producing amazing work for me to show off to my family and friends. 💖 •

Hey lovelies! I celebrated my dad’s birthday yesterday which was so fun. Today, we watched football, did some reading, were lazy, and of course, lots of eating. I failed miserably at the #averymerryreadathon2019 but to be honest, I’m not surprised. My typical reading schedule is Monday through Friday because I am home with zero distractions. What’s the last book you finished?!
I just finished Erin A. Craig’s HOUSE OF SALT AND SORROWS for #buddyreadstodiefor and it’s much more than I ever expected. I read a lot of books, so it’s tough to surprise me, but this one was a hauntingly fantastic surprise! It’s a dark reimagined telling of the Brothers Grimm’s The Twelve Dancing Princesses and boy does it deliver! It is heavy on the darker side so don’t let the YA stamp prevent you from reading it. Craig’s writing is atmospheric and the story has a beautiful gothic feel. Yes, it’s a fairytale, but at the heart of it is a horror-fueled mystery. Although, it can read a bit slower in places, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would love to see what Craig could do if she wrote an adult horror novel. ★★★★½
I wait for you in a decrepit cemetery where tombstones are devoured by moss and coffins rise from the ground when skies deliver rainstorms, the heavy dew destroying blooming daffodils. Candles are laid out in front of me, their flames moving rapidly as they burn a tarot card of The Hanged Man, his surrender nonexistent. When I begin to think of daughters making love to men above their mother’s graves, I am blinded by images of crabs escaping from a sleeping woman’s fertility, their claws yearning to pinch — sisters mutilating their feet to fit into glass slippers as doves pluck their eyes out, their vision dead and buried in the swollen gums of a princess — an envious queen transforming children into swans, her jealousy easily dismissed when she is burned at the stake and watches the youngest child’s arm remain a wing. I begin to sob when you finally approach the cemetery flaunting your delay and indecision. Between your rotting teeth is the burning tarot card of The Hanged Man. Thirty years from now, this cemetery will overflow with bodies swollen with remorse as you continue to refuse my resistance. .
