Sometimes you have a once in a lifetime opportunity, but don’t realize just how uniquely special it is until years later. I had the pleasure of spending 6wks in Cameroon ( Central/West Africa) during medical school , in 1995, to carry out a research project. I had the honor of being selected to go there and was mentored by esteemed Cardiologist Dr. Walinjom Muna. It was just brought to my attention that he passed away in February. May he rest in peace from a journey well traveled.
I am so sad because I never had a chance to inform him of the fact that the results of my African Ancestry DNA test revealed that I am 30% Cameroonian ( which the test revealed was the largest percentage of any one specific group that makes up my genetic profile) from Bamileke tribe. I had NO idea that I was in my ancestral homeland until 10 yrs after I had been there! It just confirms what I have always believed. We should treat others like beloved family or friends, until and unless they show us that we shouldn’t. The second photo is one I took with Madame Mariama who was persistent in graciously and warmly welcoming me home— even thoughI had no idea I WAS actually home. I now consider her to be my African grandma. #familyiseverything#africanancestry#ripdrmuna#spirituality#genetics#ancestry#knowthyself#bekindtoeveryoneyou meet #family#cameroon#bamileke
I told this cutie we were going on an adventure, and an adventure we went on! After she smiled for a couple of quick pictures, we threw on the casual clothes and went hiking through the beautiful California Redwoods! There were forts made of redwood branches, we made music with sticks, and of course, she conquered her fear of the “spooky trees with monsters”. What a magical morning, I cannot wait to go back and explore more!

There are some big happenings in my life recently from a job change, a car accident last night and some other changes I'm keeping private and off social media. I want to just say thank you to my family and friends for the support, kindness and love I've received through all these changes. I've always known the quality of the people in my life, but to be the recipient of so much grace and strength is really humbling. Thank you all for being a blessing in my life.
My reality is now bigger and better than any dream I could ever think of. I'm laying here in bed feeling so unbelievably blessed for the life I live and this little family I have.
I never imagined I'd find the man that was perfect for me after being broken so many times. Almost 8 years ago, Jeremy came into my life and everything changed forever. We've been through it all and somehow always manage to come out of the dark tunnel and see a new light ahead of us. We don't have a fairytale love story, but I feel like I'm living in a dream every time I wake up.
I never imagined I'd have a daughter, the second most strong willed and sweet human being I have ever met (her father being the first 🤣) Liv made me a mother and it's the role I was always meant for.
I never imagined I'd have a son, but here I am growing another beautiful life that I cannot wait to meet in a few short months. A son who I know will make my heart grow that much bigger.
The blessing of love and my little family is something I will eternally be grateful for every single day.

When your favorite little boy takes an epic four hour nap with you...
This dude turned 7! He had a day of spoiling and love. Dutch Bros before school, I surprised him for lunch and brought a #nothingbundtcakes , the whole cafeteria sang him HBD, dinner of his choice then ended the night with a milkshake while visiting with his great grandmother. ❤️ #happybirthday # #7#familyiseverything#sugarwasted

Warren, has been in my life since I was 16 years old. He was one of few survivors in the largest airplane crash in history next to 9/11, and he survived by taking quick action when others were frozen in fear.
He was someone who always got what he wanted, as he was ALWAYS willing to work hard & fight for it. 🙌 He always said that “he has to be rich as he wasn’t made to be broke.” 🤣
Warren taught me so many amazing lessons—so, in tribute to him today, I wanted to share two with you. 👇These 👇 2 lessons will change the way you operate in business and in life! 🌟 Lesson #1 🌟
Warren was a man who loved dining 🍝 out, loved to ✈️ travel, and loved a good hotel room. He would always tell me, “There’s always a room, and there’s always a table.”
He didn’t just teach me verbally, he proved it to me! We would go out on a Friday night without reservations 😬and he ALWAYS made sure we had a table. He knew there was ALWAYS a way in.
So, when I called 📞 looking for a hotel room in Chicago for his funeral, I kept his words of wisdom in mind. After first being told they were full, I changed my tactic. I called at a different hour, and took a different approach—sharing with them the reason I would be in town, and asking if there was anything available. Not only did I get a room, I got a special rate!! 🙏
Lesson #2 …“If you don’t ask, the answer is ALWAYS no.” 🙅♀️
Warren would say, “If you don’t have the balls right now, you have to grow the balls to ask. Otherwise, you can’t complain when it doesn’t happen. And if they say no, it doesn’t mean it’s a NO forever.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This could not be more true!! I am endlessly grateful to have had Warren in my life, and grateful for all he taught me. 🙏💜 I wanted to pay that knowledge forward, and share it with you all.

Leaving behind your Legacy
Taking whatever moments we have together and making the most of it - and if you’re a blogger, then documenting it with a photo! 🥰
Continuing from the topic I posted on yesterday, I have an afternoon flight to catch for a business trip to India today. Given the work flexibility, I decided to work from home. And I made Arjun bunk school so we could spend some time together before I go away for the next couple days. 😬These are the little ways I try to get my time with the kids. We went for a “babyccino date”, visited the temple, dealt with a tantrum or two, and then headed home before I dashed off to the airport. Overall, a successful morning I’d say! 😊😊

You never realize how much your parents love you until you see how much Disneyland tickets cost 💸
Working out does not have to be boring. Get outside and have fun together! 🌊🌴🐚🦀 .
Set your timer for 15mins and walk! When it beeps turn around and come back. 😉
When your somewhere nice or walking with a friend it does not feel like 15mins. We actually walked abt 17mins, so a total of 34mins. They wanted to go further but I could see the rain clouds coming. 🌫🌧
We didn't stay long, just enough to have fun!! Great way for everyone to release energy and feel better. .
Special shout out to @nico.rising for the gift. 💖🙏🏼💖🏄♀️🌊 Sis, they love it and slowly getting better at it. Couldn't get little boss lady on video bc she still needs some help. She is brave and keeps trying. 🏊♀️😁 .

Easily combine family time with working out. 30min walk on the beach feels more like 10minutes. The kids have a wonderful time playing, screaming, jumping and I get to do my 30min walk. Win for everyone! 🐚🦀🐟🌊🏄♀️
It’s crazy to think Christmas is less than 100 days away. We love everything about the season and one of the things we are most excited about is Enchant Christmas. The kids will get to search the world’s largest light maze!🎅🏼🎄
Are your kids already making their lists for Santa? If so, make sure you save them and bring them to Enchant. They can whisper in Santa’s ear exactly what they’re hoping for this Christmas! .
