There's not much room for error driving on some of the roads in Arizona. 🏜
If it's you're first time visiting the state, try to drive during the daytime. You never know if you'll end up with mountains on either side of you (like above), or driving near the edge of a cliff without a guardrail.
My family has finally reached the South Island! Yay! 😍
They have travelled from Auckland to Coromandel to Rotorua to Taupo to Wellington. Henceforth, we'll be joining them from Picton to Kaikoura to Christchurch to Tekapo to Te Anau and then back to Queenstown where we will all fly back from - us to Christchurch and they back to Singapore.
Our week long South Island tour guiding cum road trip begins today. It's always great to be with family 😍

Day 3: we drove along the coast for most of the day, except when we went inland to do a quick hike. We didn't find any penguins as our timing was off, but we found lots of rocks, seals (including a pup), shags, and vistas. #workingholidaynz#familyroadtrip#FindYourWildNZ
We wanted to visit table mountain but there was zero visibility even though it was open. That means we were able to go up but would not be able to enjoy a nice view of cape town from above.
We checked the website and twitter updates throughout our 5 days there and unfortunately did not take the cable car up. I was excited on our last day as the weather appeared clear but unfortunately the cable car was closed due to strong winds.
Instead we drove to Simom's Town to see the penguins and drove to Cape Point and visited Cape of Good Hope. We had to enter a national park for that and pay the entrance fee. We drove to a couple of spots and managed to take the Funicular up to Cape Point.
We met with wild ostriches by the side of the road and wild baboons sitting on cars at the open air carparks.
The wind was extremely strong and we were literally pushed by the wind.
While waiting for the funicular, we read about the various shipwrecks which occurred around that area over the many decades due to the difference of currents from the Atlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean.
The husband and 2 boys tried to climb up the cape of good hope but came down midway as it was too windy as the path was rather narrow.
These sites were a lot more touristy than in other parts of South Africa which we visited including the garden route.
🎄 Travelling with babies and young children — #holidaysleeptips 🎄⠀
— Plan any long journeys around your baby or toddler's nap times to make travelling easier and less stressful. The motion of the car can be really handy for helping children nod off so plan to leave when they're tired or it's their usual nap time and cross your fingers! 🤞⠀
— Give yourself time to stop and rest when needed.⠀
— If somebody else is driving, try and stay close/sit next to your little one so you're there if they wake up.⠀
— Pack what you think is enough drinks and snacks. And then pack some more for good measure! Try and keep everything at arms length so you're not rummaging around for things you need.⠀
— Make sure you've got an emergency first aid kit in the car and other useful items such as a torch, blankets etc.⠀
— Don't forget about music! Some jolly tunes, stories or nursery rhymes can distract during a longer trip and lullabies or white noise can be played to help your child drift off to sleep 🎶⠀
— If they're used to a pacifier, make sure you take it with you as it could be useful if your kiddo wants to nurse but you're not able to stop immediately.⠀
Will you be travelling across the holiday season? Where will you be heading off to?⠀

Not many things I love more than exploring with these babes. We may have seen the @whitehouse before, but seeing it at Christmas time gave me a whole new love for “the people’s house. It was absolutely stunning down to every last detail.
Many of you have asked me how to tickets to the East Wing of the White House.... anybody can get them, but you have to contact your state representative months in advance to apply for tickets (in plenty of time for them to do a background check). It’s so worth doing!
I cannot wait to add another little one to this adventure pack.
Ficamos admirados olhando as montanhas tocarem as nuvens.
Currently packing for a last minute trip to Miami to visit Family. We will be driving down with the whole family!
It’s a 24 hour drive not including stops. Yes we know we are Crazy. 😜 We will be stopping at a Hotel to sleep for the night and then continue our trip. Follow my stories this week if you want to watch our Adventures unfold!
“We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us”

🌲 You can explore the great outdoors together
🌲 It's a more comfortable trip than a long car journey, especially with kids!
🌲 Your motorhome is a hotel on wheels, so you can move around as much or as little as you like - perfect for visiting friends and family this time of year!
I think we should stop thinking of childhood as a means to an end. As just a necessary part of life that happens before real life begins.
Children are not pre-adults.
They don’t exist just to prepare for adulthood.
They exist to be children.
When we get older, we finally realize the value of living in the now. We encourage each other to enjoy every moment. We write books and pen poems and compose songs and take classes about being present and mindful.
We remind one another to notice the seasons, smell the flowers, feel the wind, commune with the creatures.
Some of us even wish to recapture our youth.
Yet we often teach our children to spend most of their childhood focused on preparing to not be children anymore.
We tell them to hurry.
When all we really long to do is find a way to
Just. Slow. Down.
I think we should be teaching them notice the seasons while the spinning of the earth still seems slow, smell the flowers while kneeling beside them is still effortless, feel the wind on unwrinkled cheeks, commune with the creatures while they still believe that the creatures understand.
What better time to learn to value the here and now than in the glorious here and now of childhood?
I choose you. And I’ll choose you over and over and over. Without pause, without a doubt, in a heartbeat. I’ll keep choosing you. I realized I was thinking of you, and I began to wonder how long you’d been on my mind.
A bit of a rest from running, to give this calve injury a rest . . Time to try to master riding trails that are unmarked, and making up my own routes . . .
Good news! I didn't get lost, woo hoo LOL Thanks to Garmin Fenix 5's maps and Google!
We have been out of sorts.
Not just them—but my husband and me, too.
We have spent nearly three of the past five weeks traveling-seeing amazing sights, taking in history, spending blessed time with family, making dependable memories, and tossing all agenda and predictability aside.
Spending so much precious time together always produces its own tensions.
The kids act out, too.
We were ready to be home, but also not ready.
We always come home all mixed up-aching for normalcy.
But then my husband took one of the boys out and came home with Uno, declaring our first family game night.
In the sound of laughter our angst melted.
Brothers bent on arguing became brothers bent on brotherhood once more.
The next morning, they raced straight for the game, set it out between plates of breakfast.
In words of encouragement, laughter, and patient instruction, normalcy returned.
Teamwork reappeared, stronger than before because of what the road teaches us.
This is why we go so often, after all.
Because the miles teach us what we could not learn here.
And coming home teaches us all the more.
🚘 WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN YOU WANT TO TRAVEL BY CAR IN 🇺🇸
1. You need a driving license 😬😂. A European driver's license in the USA is also valid to rent a car and drive in the country. So you don’t need to have the International one.
2. If you are under 25, then there will be a double rate for the rented car. So it’s better to rent a car with someone who is already 25 🤓.
3. In addition to the driving license, you will definitely need a credit / debit card. It must be in the name of the driver and without it they give you a car. It should have enough money for a deposit. When you return the car, all the blocked money will be credited back to you card.
4. Take a comprehensive insurance. Yes, it is much more expensive, but for a complete peace of mind is what you need. Cause if anything happens: you get a scratch - then you might have to pay a considerable amount! So if you come back on one wheel - you won’t pay anything 🤪.
5. If you take a car in one city and return it in another one, then the price will be much higher.
Out of over 245 million surface acres of land the BLM manages we are surprised to see it’s more difficult than we thought to find sites near rivers. We’re loving the free camping but we keep finding epic spots near the rivers we can’t stay at! Love this place already though!

This is it. No turning back! 🍁🍂. What’s the best road trip you’ve ever gone on with friends and family?
My travel squad for LIFE 💙 I’d love to tell you that everyone sits in the car like angels but the truth is more often than not someone hates everything I packed so they are STARVED even though I served a six course breakfast and we are .06 miles away from the house and their stomach is KILLING from hunger, another didn’t charge their phone even though I reminded them to the night before a mere five times (NO YOU DIDN’T MA) and now they are hounding everyone else to share theirs in the MOST annoying pitch known to man. Another is spreading out their entire body as if the entire car is their personal king sized bed, and lest we not forget the one who insists on the song being changed constantly and is always cold or hot or both at the EXACT SAME TIME.
And me? (Parenting coach friends, stop reading now) I alternate between threatening to turn around AND that this is the last trip I will ever take with them ever again AND that I will take away everyone’s phones and IPads and Fortnite for a WHOLE YEAR AND I WON’T FORGET, and plugging my ears with headphones and blasting a podcast so loud that suddenly, I can’t hear anything at all.
Now you must forget everything you just read. ANGELS I TELL YOU. xo gb🖤 #nyc#newyork#holiday#instagood#instagram#love#family#blue#statueofliberty#nyskyline#clouds#kids#familyroadtrip#roadtrip#trip#familytime
