“A realist, in Venice, would become a romantic by mere faithfulness to what he saw before him.” Arthur Symons.
We all know that the strong wind and heavy rain over the past month devastated parts of Italy and led to the worst flooding Venice has seen in at least a decade. In the northern region of Veneto, damage estimates have reached over one billion euros, and several villages have been cut off as a result of landslides. The severe weather also wrought havoc on the environment, with dozens of hectares of forestry -- including the famous 'Violin Forest' -- decimated after winds reached up to 190 kilometers per hour (118 mph). Ferocious winds drove the high tide to 156 centimeters (61 inches) above average sea level -- one of the highest levels ever recorded. It left three-quarters of Venice submerged.
St. Mark's Square was turned into a lake and floodwater spilled across the ancient marble floors of St. Mark's Basilica.
Floodwaters also covered several dozen square meters of the 1,000-year-old marble pavement in front of the alter of the Madonna Nicopeia, a 12th-century icon, and submerged the Baptistery and the Zen Chapel.

. 🌠“To build a city where it is impossible to build a city is madness in itself, but to build there one of the most elegant and grandest of cities is the madness of genius.” Alexander Herzen 🌠
I had dreamed of visiting the Galápagos Islands for years, but I have to admit I didn’t have many expectations aside from learning more about Darwin’s theories and seeing giant tortoises. The reality is that the tortoises are not nearly as common as I had thought, and most of the animals I saw were birds, iguanas, and sea lions. The islands were more barren than I expected, with harsh conditions and environments that force animals to adapt, creating unique species that don’t exist anywhere else on earth. The lack of natural predators make the animals unafraid and offers an opportunity for visitors to see and interact with animals that are strangely unbothered by human presence. Of course it’s never appropriate to touch wildlife, but I remember several instances in which animals approached me, and I had to back up to avoid being too close. The Galápagos Islands truly are like a living wildlife museum.
J'ai intitulé celle-ci "La chute de Wow Air" / I named this one "Wow Air has fallen"
Notre voyage à passé à deux doigts de changer de destination quand nos billets ont été annulés avec la faillite de @wowair. Heureusement, on a été remboursés! Connais-tu quelqu'un qui a été affecté par cette faillite? ✈️🇮🇸
Our trip to Iceland was almost over before it even started due to the bankruptcy of @wowair. Fortunately, se got our money back (thanks to my credit card). Have you been affected by this bankruptcy? ✈️🇮🇸
