The face is a complex network of muscles which are used constantly. Smiling, chewing, laughing, speaking, yawning, sneezing - all cause facial muscles to contract. As a result the facial muscles are in almost constant use and begin to collect tension, just like any other muscle in the body. Eventually this causes constriction in the muscle tissue and decreased circulation to the surface tissues.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When blood is unable to circulate properly through these tissues, the facial tissues near the surface begins to lose it's natural elasticity. Japanese facial massage affects both deep and superficial muscles of the face, and regular treatment can help to tone and lift the face muscles, prevent and reduce lines, wrinkles and puffiness - a natural facelift!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are four stages to the massage: first we massage the neck to release any tension and improve circulation to the head and face. Next we massage the neck and face using oil to improve the condition of the skin, and relax and tone the muscles. The third stage involves working on 50 acupressure points on the face using finger pressure to activate facial nerves and increase the meridian energy flow to the face. The final stage is a lymphatic drainage massage to encourage the elimination of toxins from the tissues and reduce any puffiness.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Mothball Fleet at the San Diego 32nd St. Naval Base, 1948. This was just a portion of the unneeded American ships left over after World War Two. The US Navy at the end of WWII was the largest on the planet, and would be unaffordable at that size in peacetime. What followed was the largest warship preservation effort in history. At that time, hundreds of surplus ships were allocated to a National Defense Reserve Fleet (NDRF), intended for deployment during military actions and national emergencies. Each fleet consisted of a number of groups corresponding to storage sites, each adjacent to a shipyard for easier reactivation. At its peak in 1950, the NDRF had 2,277 ships in lay-up.
