I've been trying my hand at growing bog plants since the past year and a half but I haven't posted many pictures of my attempts here on Instagram (no particular reason - just laziness 😜). Although I've lost a few plants while working on my learning curve, I've come to the conclusion that overall bog plants can be extremely easy going and rewarding plants - provided one buys them according to the sunlight exposure that one can provide.
Today I'm sharing one of the 4 mini ponds I have in my garden. This one has my absolute favourite waterlily - Dauben's waterlily (Nymphaea ‘Daubenyana’), some Azolla and a little duckweed.
Nymphaea ‘Daubenyana’ is a small tropical water lily. It features star-shaped, fragrant light blue flowers and is a terrific bloomer (this floriferous nature makes it my favourite). Its parentage is Nymphaea caerulea x Nymphaea micrantha. Its date of origin is listed as sometime prior to 1856 with a publication date of 1864. It was introduced by W.T.Baxter ex Daubeny.
Dauben is highly viviparous and can produce a flowering lily off of one of its leaves (makes it extremely easy to propagate). An ideal choice for a tub garden or small water garden as it adapts easily to a small planting area. This ability to adapt itself to small planting areas has given it the moniker of "tabletop waterlily". Another great trait of this waterlily is that it doesn't have the same full sunlight exposure requirements as that of other tropical waterlilies, it blooms with slightly less hours of sun exposure too. This waterlily has been extremely forgiving despite my lack of experience with bog plants - definitely recommend others intersted in starting a pond to get ones of these 😁💙

Beautiful blousy roses have burst into bloom by the deck under the sitting room window — a glorious sight (bottom right)! We have kaleidoscope of roses in the garden in whites, yellow, pink, red...and I don't know the name of any of them 😱⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Any ideas???? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And do you have a favourite rose that we should be planting?
