Wir haben unseren Besitz vervielfacht, aber unsere Werte reduziert. Wir sprechen zu viel, wir lieben zu selten und wir hassen zu oft. Wir wissen, wie man seinen Lebensunterhalt verdient, aber nicht mehr, wie man lebt. -
Wir haben dem Leben mehr Jahre hinzugefügt, aber nicht den Jahren mehr leben.“ -
Language patterns are the input for our subconscious mind’s programming. The more we say something, the more we believe it. The more we use victim language patterns, the more often our brain executes the behavior we are focused on in order to maintain the known and expected victimhood pattern. This is very important to understand!
Self-talk, overthinking, and other internal judgment dialogues are mostly guided by our subconscious survival mind.
Even after years of mind reprogramming, I catch myself using destructive and negative language sometimes. These habits are so deeply ingrained that they run on autopilot. Of course we habituate positive language patterns too, but to a lesser degree. Why? Because our survival mind doesn’t have time for positive models. Its job is to have fight-or-flight systems in place to circumvent negative experiences.
Get to know your language patterns and work on shifting them a little every day. This helps the brain to lay down new, positive neurological pathways and create a new set of connections that will process information in a better way.
The challenge is to be aware of what’s going on. Be present and make conscious choices as often as you can.
Start today by focusing on the present moment and writing down your language habits whenever you catch yourself.
How to practice in the present moment?
- Meditate. Sit quietly and focus on your breath. When your mind wanders, gently redirect your focus back to the breath. Repeat.
- Observe nature or objects. Take time to observe your surroundings without judgment. Look at the trees, birds and other objects.
- Feel your body while doing other things.
How to start catching your language patterns?
- Take note every time you catch yourself saying something to yourself (or others) that feels bad. Review the list in the evening and then visualize how you could do it differently.
To effect change, these practices must become daily habits because only consistency and awareness will rewire your brain and reprogram your subconscious. Don’t worry about how many days it will take to feel the shift, Just keep going. 😊
