NONGBU | something about gloomy days always draws me to korean food. Nongbu is a cute spot hidden near whyte avenue and has the coziest interior
1 - cheese ramyun korean pancake with spicy mayo sauce. Noodles + cheese pancake? Anything is possible with korean food. The pancake had a nice crispy exterior and a soft interior with warm flavours of melted cheese
2 - gogi mari. porkbelly wrapped around beef and kimchi. This was such a fun and tasty starter! From the sweet glaze of the outer layer of grilled pork to the savoury flavours from the beef to the spicy acidity from the kimchi, it came all together to a fulfilling bite
3 - military stew. broken down, this stew is a concoction of all sorts of ingredients that you’d never expect to be in soup. spam, beans, bacon, weiners, etc. What’s interesting about this is the origin of the dish that’s come to be a popular dish in modern korean cuisine. Gotta try it atleast once
4 - butter bulgogi deopbap. shaved beef with shiitake mushrooms and egg. While the flavours in this dish were good, I found it to be on the sweeter side which was unexpected in a dish containing primarily beef and shiitake. Still feeling conflicted, but I was intrigued by the incorporation of butter into bulgogi. Give it a try and see for yourself!

✨INGREDIENTES (Para 9 porciones aproximadamente):
✔️2 tazas de avena @somoswhynot ✔️1 taza de harina de almendras ✔️1/2 taza de cacao en polvo @chocolates_leyenda ✔️1 cucharada de aceite de coco derretido @adecococol ✔️1 chocolatina 80% cacao derretida @chocolates_leyenda ✔️Stevia al gusto @sweetleafstevia ✔️3 huevos completos ✔️1/4 de taza de bebida vegetal (leche de almendras, coco, etc)
✔️Arequipe sin azúcar @taeqcolombia •••
👩🏻🍳PREPARACIÓN: Precalienta el horno a 180°C. Mezcla en un bowl los ingredientes secos y en otro los ingredientes húmedos (la chocolatina y el aceite de coco se derriten en el microondas juntos de a 20 segundos e ir revolviendo para evitar que se queme), luego revuelve ambas preparaciones hasta que estén totalmente incorporadas y lleva al horno por 15-20 min o hasta que insertes un cuchillo y salga limpio, cuando se enfríen, córtalos y cúbrelos en arequipe sin azúcar y listooo a disfrutar 😜

Happy Tuesday! We are near the end of October and I just made something with pumpkin 😅 These pumpkin cookies with a pumpkin cream cheese frosting from @onceuponapumpkin was unreal and y’all need this in your lives. It was a hit with friends and coworkers!
1 1/2 cup almond flour
1/2 cup coconut flour
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 cup pumpkin puree
1 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 tbsp coconut oil (melted and cooled)
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. grass-fed butter, softened
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1-2 Tbs pumpkin purée (I got the idea to add from @thepeachyprodigy)
¼ tsp. pumpkin pie spice
½ cup powdered sugar

London loves a hype. Whether it's the Katsu Sando, Cronuts or the over-hyped, over-Instagrammed Bubblewrap (it's just waffle and 🍦, I don’t get it?), a new fad is never far away. There are few 🥪-only shops around London, of course you have the stalwarts: Max's, Monty's, Bodega Rita's, Sub Cult, the various banh-mi locations, etc. The list surprisingly goes on.
When James Ramsden and Sam Herlihy - the duo behind Pidgin, where I devoured of my favourite menus of 2019 - announced the closure of Magpie, you knew that wasn't the end, something else was brewing like PG Tips in hot water. And here it is, the 🍇 of their labour: a swanky, clean-cut 🥪 bar in the 💖 of Coal Drops Yard.
🍞: white bloomer. Chewy crust, chewy crust! Bouncier than a golf ball on tarmac, it did the trick. My only gripe is that I'd like a thicker cut - huge, fuck-off doorstop wedges. The amount of filling could have taken it.
🐔: roasted Swaledale 🐓, soy-cured parmesan, pickled 🥒, gem lettuce, miso mayo, green sauce, wasabi cress and crispy 🐔 skin.
💭: full-frontal, hardcore penetration. My mouth took an absolute battering, from all angles, in all forms… and I bloody loved it. (@lunchluncheon, get your ass down there.) The umami from the miso and parmesan was teetering on too much but thankfully it stayed promiscuously on the edge. Roast chicken. I mean, fuck, it's roast chicken. I don't think flavour gets much better than a pristinely-cooked bird. Crunch. The skin, what a lovely addition. Sour. Yup, that's the pickled cucumber. Wasabi cress for a sharp peppery note, intertwining like raunchy lovers with the salty parmesan and seasoned chicken. No idea what the green sauce was but combined with everything else, proper pukka.
Seriously impressed - impressed enough to award a perfect score and to book in again this Thursday to devour more from the menu. There's a reason why the crowds have flooded in, and gladly, I think the 'sandwich shop' fad is here to stay ⭐️
