Durian Durian @ Coffee Lounge, Goodwood Park Hotel
This is the go-to place for durian desserts. I tried a new item - a traditional Peranakan dessert - Bibik Santan D24 Durian Dessert in Durian Ceramic Jar ($25.50++). It looked better than it tasted. In fact, it was too sweet; overwhelmed by the excessive coconut milk, the soaked durian paste seemed out of place, and was next to a faux pas.
The D24 durian soufflé ($18++) was so much better. The crisp top and soft interior warmed the palate and heart.
😍 Yummy affordable western food. Cheese sausage set (S$5) comes with one huge JUICY sausage, fries, beans and a lots of coleslaw. As with any sausages, its a bit salty so its best to share. Swipe ➡️➡️. Also tried the pork chop set (S$7). 😲Portion size was huge! Have to share it between 2 persons.
I usually don’t post so fast but this time I figured why not. This is my second visit here and I came because I heard the current Japanese Chef can make tempura that closely resembled the quality of the Osaka main shop. I ordered the $100 lunch course at Tempura Ippoh and though I considered it a “good” meal since I haven’t eaten tempura in a long long time so this was kinda refreshing, I was rather disappointed and turned off with a few aspects this time round. This is the perfect example of why the Chef matters. Unlike the previous visit last year where I was served by a Japanese chef, this time I was shocked to learn that the current Japanese Chef was on leave and a non-japanese Chef was serving me. Not that I want to be prejudice but come on I’m paying a premium here. Had I known I would’ve cancelled my reservation. Anyway, long story short, he did an ok job overall but I could see that he messed up a few items. The scallop wasn’t well coated and the batter fell off as I bit into it, the kakiage was soggy and fell apart easily. There was also poor handling with the sea urchin tempura and when the items were place on the metal gauze. By the way, I don’t know if this is specific to the Chef or the restaurant but I don’t recall tempura being served 2 items at a time, always thought it was 1 at a time so that it can be eaten hot and crisp. Having said all this, I suppose I would still return but only when the Japanese Chef is back because if it’s true that he can produce the quality that is similar to the Osaka main branch then I really want to try his tempura.

Half a portion of the Cold Capellini pasta with truffle oil, Hokkaido scallops and sea urchin. 2nd pic is Half a portion of the 300g burrata dish.
After seeing many posts on Da Luca in my newsfeed over the last few months, specifically the famous cold capellini pasta with truffle oil, Hokkaido scallops and sea urchin, I immediately agreed to go when my friend suggested this place for dinner. We only ordered 2 items as shown above and they were both split into equal portions for the two of us. Overall, I thought what I ate was good, I won’t say great but I’d say it’s good - I wouldn’t mind coming back. The pasta was quite an umami bomb and I can see why the ladies love ordering this, it’s a nice treat to their eyes and taste buds. Price-wise, the capellini pasta was $88 and the burrata was $44, is it worth it? Haha you can be the judge for that.

Thr chocolate tart looks plain but taste simply nice! @tartebycherylkoh .Tried a lot different flavours last time and skipped this chocolate one because its look...but it turns out to be so special!
It is dark, creamy, with a texture slightly denser than #chocolatemousse , slightly but just nice density... The #passionfruittart is too sweet though, the #meringue is nicely done not overly sweet, but the #passionfruitcustard yes 😝
The tart base is a slightly soft and pale version. I would like it to be a bit more crusty though.

This is so so good. Crispy, crunchy and juicy on the bite.

The room is filled with aroma of the earthly Truffle & there are bits of truffle in the mayo dip.
Fish N’ Chips
Typical English Fish n Chips.
Halibut, a poor man’s cod, is fried in secret (no beer) batter.
The batter breaks like glass when cut into the fish.
Very fresh skin on Halibut.
Everyone enjoy the fish.
One and half bottle of red wine was used when cooking the beef, leaving the beef in a pool of beef jus.
Folk tender and so flavourful.
The mash is stunning, so much flavour.
You can really feel the love and passion that goes into the cooking.
This beef Bourguignon recipe is passed down by Gino’s grandmother. We love this dish.

Sambal cereal chicken - $7.20
Mildest of the series.
Savoury with hints of sweetness
Sambal crispy chicken - $7.20
Fried with sambal and bean sprouts is added for additional crunchiness.
The bean sprouts also helps to reduce the degree of spiciness.
Looks like a plate fried carrot cake. Don’t let the appearance fools you.
Sambal pork - $7.90
Spiciest in the whole series.
Crispy prawn pasted belly pork is topped with Chilli pepper flakes.
Spicy yet very addictive.
Some spice girls were seen scooping chilli flakes and ate with the sambal pork.
Adore this very much.
Good to eat on its own or with a bowl of steaming hot rice.
Caution: Please standby icy lemonade for heat relief.
Sambal chicken skin - $5.90

😋Silky smooth chee cheong fun for breakfast. I got the prawn filling (S$2.50/roll). Its freshly made on the spot. The hae bee hiam chilli, fried shallots topping and light & slightly sweet soy sauce pairs well with the thin rice roll.
