This is Mia. She is our tiny little #fosterfail . We can’t imagine life without her. She arrived at the shelter weighing 4 pounds (half her current weight) almost no hair and broken in several places. She went through extensive surgery. Through it all, her tail wagged. She now goes happily to work everyday as a therapy dog with my spouse an amazing therapist. My father is in a memory care facility and Mia goes there every week. The residents love her. One in particular was convinced Mia was her long lost dog Pepper. She smiled and hugged her and cherished their time together, especially since there were so few things that brought her joy. This dog lover’s health began to fail but Mia still made her smile. Two weeks ago she had reached the point of being almost catatonic, but when I placed Mia in her lap she wrapped her arms around Mia. Last weekend, everyone knew it wouldn’t be long. I took Mia to her room and asked her daughters if we could visit. They said they were glad to finally meet the famous Mia. I gently put Mia in her lap. Mia looked at her expectantly, tail swishing. When there was no response she put her chin on her friend’s hand. Again no response, so Mia lightly nudged her hand. She waited, then tenderly kissed her friend’s hand and laid down for one last snuggle. It was an extraordinary moment. Mia’s friend died the next day. Dogs are pure love, pedigrees and breed don’t matter. There’s a special dog like Mia waiting at your local rescue or shelter. #adoptdontshop#savethemall#alldogsmatter#fortheloveofdogs#dogsaremystarfish
We are so delighted to welcome Petsy in India. Those who follow our work know we don’t sell anywhere and everywhere.
We are so happy to find partners like Sinal and Veer who understand and appreciate the tiniest details that go into making our products. Thank you both and welcome!
Well...it’s official. I just got back from 3 hours at the Allergist. I’M ALLERGIC TO DOGS!!!! Say it isn’t so! Why???? Why????? Those that know me well can probably guess my solution to this medical issue. Gonna have to build up my tolerance. No, silly heads. Not a series of years of allergy shots. I need 10 more dogs! That should do it! 🙃🙃🙃 #allergiessuck#crazydoglady#jacksontheminiaussie#fortheloveofdogs#puppylove
A huge thanks to the nice folks at the shelter for taking wonderful care of him and to all of you who have already donated towards his care! If you missed the previous post, he has gruesome injuries from being attacked and was possibly hit by a car.
We’ll know more after our vet checks him out and will keep you posted!
Today is #NTxGivingDay and your donations qualify for bonus funds so make an even bigger impact!
Photo by @CristinaMittermeier // Who is the real alpha? In the Greenland winter, ice and snow stretch across the land farther than the eye can see and the food is scarce. Sled dogs on a team constantly challenge each other for lead status, but it is always the musher who needs to be the true alpha for a team to be successful and bring food back home for his family. Every musher has a different relationship with his team, but sled dogs are not considered pets; they are working animals in a land where the air is so cold it can kill you. The lives of dogs and animals depend on the obedience of the team; that is why the dogs are managed so closely.
