Let’s reinvent work and parenthood.
We don’t have to do things the way they’ve always been done.
The spirit of startup culture is one of disruption, invention, and rethinking the status quo.
We believe the way work and parenting looks today is broken, and it’s time to rethink it in big ways and little ways.
Let’s break the rules, reinvent what’s normal, and rethink parenting and business.

Little Wil just sitting on the beach building stuff (really tearing it down, but who's counting?)
There's something so special about just giving kids the most fundamental toys and letting them enjoy. My kids have video games, tablets, and every electronic device made, but those don't make memories.
The "Big Dig"? Now that's how he'll remember his childhood.

There are many ways to run a successful business.
It’s not about hustle at all costs (although you can hustle when you want to).
It’s about designing businesses that are strategic, smart, and well-suited to all of the people involved in its creation.
For some, that means building a business that allows you to work from anywhere.
For others, it means building a company that bakes parenting right into the way the workflow is designed.
For others, it means flexibility.
Businesses are as diverse as kids are—there isn’t a cookie-cutter formula that we can apply and say “just do this.”
Define success on your own terms, and get after it.

I have so many new followers, this is an excellent time for me to introduce myself to you all and have some #founderfriday fun!
My name is Linda and I am the founder of Batiqua! I was born and bred in Zimbabwe and I moved to Canada end of 2014!
Coming from an artisan family and community in Harare, Batiqua is a platform to support my community through sustainable employment while also sharing quality handmade products which I design with customers here and beyond.
If I had to choose my favourite sales channel, it would be a summer craft show!
I love the sun, the good vibes, music, fun food, meeting people, sharing stories, awesome neighbouring vendors, amazing customers and event organizers who make it all worth it!
I sometimes think it would be fun to do a compilation of all the fun stories and encounters I’ve had at markets! Here’s one, once I share that our textiles are made using oatmeal or cornmeal porridge resist, the next typical question I get is “Can we eat them🤣”
I hear this 6/10 times and it always makes me laugh. My response is “Unfortunately our textiles are not edible BUT you can get some placemats for a unique dining experience!”
I really miss my markets this year, all the relationships I could have fostered, but I’m really thankful for social media platforms that have been so instrumental in building and maintaining those friendships and opportunities-though differently but still in a meaningful way.
Happy Friday everyone and stay safe.

My team and I have surpassed every goal I set for us this year. 👏🏼 Every 👏🏼 last 👏🏼 one!!! And it’s because of one thing…
OUR TEAM COMMUNICATION!
YEP! You read that correctly.
I know it seems too easy, right?! But hear me out....
Making sure my team has strong and positive communication channels is the equivalent of placing my own oxygen mask on in case of an in-flight emergency. I could try helping others first, but if I don’t put on my own oxygen mask, I become pretty darn useless. Before my team can help our clients, we have to make sure that *WE* are healthy and communicating at our very best. Once we are at our best, we create amazing opportunities for collaboration with one another and our clients!
I didn’t want to keep these tried and true tactics for just us. Who knows, maybe they can help your team too!
I wrote them down on my LinkedIn (link in bio to check out) in hopes that maybe they spark a change and help your team too.
Spoiler alert: One of the tactics involves using gifs as a form of communication… 🤣
I’ve had my best year yet at @thesuperfancompany and I know it’s because of my amazing team. The ways we’ve learned to communicate and collaborate with each other has blown me away in 2019. I’m ready to bring on even MORE learning & ways to improve in 2020!
Do you have any ways that YOU’VE improved this year?
Let me in on your secrets! Learning from each other is the best type of learning!

One thing that has really helped my mental health through a crazy year on top of this global pandemic has been my new commitment to do something nice for my body everyday. Whether small like just taking a bath or doing yoga to being more active working out or playing basketball by myself 🏀.
It used to be so easy for me to go for days working saying I’m too tired or busy. I’ve learnt really you always have enough time: it’s just having the right perspective for what matters every day 🤙🏼.
I'm a starter-finisher, which is partly amazing as there aren't that many of us around apparently. But it's also a hindrance as I always need to finish what I started. Like that Netflix series that I didn't like but just HAD to finish (like the new Sabrina... awful! But I HAD to see it through 🤦🏻♀️).
Or like a new project which I then decide it's not quite right for me but I have this urge to see it through at all costs.
I'm also not impulsive (unless we're talking Disney! 😊). Which means that I don't go into things lightly, making it even harder to give them up.
I had to work hard on myself as I grew older in evaluating what I should see it through and what I should let go of. I'm now a lot more flexible to admit that I tried something but it wasn't for me.
It takes a lot of emotional effort for me to give up. But now I realise that giving up, for me anyway, it's a strength and not a weakness.
And apparently that are many studies that say that entrepreneurs usually fail or give up 3 times before finding their true calling on the 4th time. If that's OK for highly "successful" people... surely it's OK for me too.
I'm only one person with 2 kids, a full-time job and MANY interests and dreams. I quickly realised that I CAN do everything, but I CAN'T do everything WELL. And I'd rather do fewer things well and save my sanity and my time for my family.
So I've given up on a few initiatives I started before lockdown and for me that took strength. I had the time the evaluate my values, my skills and value for time.
I've decided to harness on the skills of my day job and mix them up with those I've developed over here on social media. I've just launched a podcast @peoplewhoworkpodcast which I love. I'm developing online training courses on my area of expertise. None of which I would have had the confidence or know-how to do before I started on social media.
It's like my parallel worlds finally came together and everything has led me here.
It feels right, finally... but now I'm also stronger to let go of whatever doesn't work down the line too 🙌
DON'T BE SCARED TO START. DON'T BE SCARED TO GIVE UP. Letting go may be just what you need 💕
The Company Building lobby is open! Come see for yourself and don’t forget to look up. So much hard work went into creating this beautiful space. Now, it's your turn to enjoy it. (And there's much more to come.) ✨
