The intersection of Beverly and Fairfax, Los Angeles May 30, 2020. Photos 11-20
Update: The left side of my rib cage started hurting yesterday and is also bruised. Which means at least two cops hit me... now I’m pissed off.

The intersection of Beverly and Fairfax, Los Angeles May 30, 2020. It’s fair to say I had no idea the day would turn out like it did, nor did I know this intersection would be one of the epicenter’s in Los Angeles of the fury and anger we hopefully all feel for the tragic death of George Floyd.
I took over 700 photos, picked over a 100 last night that I felt were good, then edited 44 photos that I thought truly took the viewer to that intersection. This is only 10 of those photos. There was no sleep last night, I don’t see how a person could have after a day like that. Those 44 photos are on FB and many of you have commented. I’m speechless and humbled by your words. Thank you🙏🏽 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hopefully as a nation we can all move forward and find a path towards healing. That path will be long and there will be set backs. Everyone needs to play a part no matter how small. My only hope is that these photos will impart a small spark in each viewer to drive change in a positive direction. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On a truly personal note, as I was on the way home last night, I thought to myself - these photos are a culmination of your entire life. Battle-hardened, staying cool under fire and pressure, learning the finer points of photography the last two years; it all came together yesterday and I was in the flow, it all came naturally. The realization was surreal. I am thankful!

It’s safe to say that nothing went right for this photo; the Milky Way galaxy rise was invisible because of light pollution and a light marine layer. The bioluminescence wasn’t to be seen; I’m not even sure how it made it in this photo 🤦🏽♂️ You can’t win them all 🤷🏽♂️

“Fire Dragon” NOT a Burning Man photo!
If I’ve ever done a photoshoot for you; you know how meticulous I am with details and planning. Inside, I’m usually stressing and putting way too much pressure on myself because I want the shots to come out perfect. That’s just me 🤷🏽♂️ Last week, one day after getting back from the Burn, my friend Lili says to me as we’re driving in LA “let’s go light up some fire and shoot at sunset!” “Sure, why not” I say. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve never taken photos of a fire dancer up close and normally I would do some prep work before shooting. Needless to say l was a little jittery because this was spontaneous. We needed white gas and all of the nearby hardware stores were closed. I was off the hook... for about 5 minutes. REI was open in Santa Monica. We shot for only 10 mins on the beach and I’m so happy we did! It was the most intense 10 min photoshoot I have ever done! The end result is this photo that I love. There are a few more gems but this one is my favorite.
