This is one of my favourite photographs from this year's Visarjan Series.
I was surrounded with a sea of people , while I was standing on top of a broke down wooden planks which were submerged in water. The 360° view echoed with chants of Bappa. Every second in the sea water was a challenge as I had to keep my camera and cell phone safe from the crashing waves and more so every shot I would shoot was on Manual. It was a struggle. The challenge was to capture moments with whatever light available and bumping up the ISO.
This stampede of devotees rushing and pushing their Ganesha idol to sea for Visarjan gave me goose bumps. There was so much going on in every direction, but this one hand gave me my que, my shot and the words that broke out in the noise..."Kiti Sundar Svarup Aahe" ( What a beautiful form). That hand gesture and the stamped in the background brought out the magnitude of his presence and his departure. In the hand gesture in some way reflected his vision and his home in our hearts.
