18 hour layover in Munich, Germany (Oktoberfest)
As a solo traveler, I tend to plan my trips in such a way that I would have about 10 hours plus layover in a city I’d enjoy exploring before flying back home.
❌Is it worth staying at a hotel or hostel in Munich?
🔶Honestly for such a short stay in Munich especially during Oktoberfest it was expensive to stay at a hotel so I decided to step out of my comfort zone and killed time at the airport after partying it up at Oktoberfest.
🔷In case you want to sleep in the napcab in Munich airport, the prices varies but you may want to book in advance to ensure you secure a spot.
🧳Where can you store your luggage/carry on in Munich Airport?
🎯There is storage on the ground floor as you exit custom. I paid $12 Euro to store by carry on for about 11 hours.
🚞What is the cheapest way to travel from the airport to city centre in Munich?
💰I paid about $20 Euro round trip for my train ticket from the airport to where Oktoberfest was held.
⤵️How to spend your time at Oktoberfest as a solo female traveler?
1️⃣First of all, wear comfy shoes cause you’ll be walking a lot from the train station to the festival.
2️⃣Have cash on you, I’d say about $60 Euros just in case.
3️⃣A litter of beer🍺is about $11 Euro. I highly recommend going to Paulaner’s tent.
4️⃣Definitely go on the Ferris wheel 🎡, you’ll have the most beautiful view of lovely Munich in the night.
5️⃣I recommend trying their breaded turkey🍗sandwich with extra mayo and mustard...yummy!!!
6️⃣Buy one of the heart ginger ornament to take back with you home.
7️⃣As you make your way back to the train, stop here and there and support the German street bands singing their heart away.🎼🎤

2 Days in Zagreb, Croatia Itinerary
💫Now Zagreb is one of those less well known Western European city that can be overlooked by travelers. However if you are one of those travelers like myself who is fascinated by exploring and learning about new cultures then I highly recommend giving Zagreb a shot.
🚦Is Zagreb safe to visit for a solo female traveler? Absolutely!
🗓When did I visit Zagreb? September 21, 2019 thru September 23, 2019
📍Where to stay in Zagreb? There are so many great hotels in Zagreb, but since I wanted to be in the center of the city. Hence I decided to stay at the Sheraton Zagreb Hotel that’s literally in the heart of the city and walk-in distance from the lower and upper towns.
🔖Recap of my itinerary in Zagreb:
🔶Explored the bar and restaurant located in the lobby of the Sheraton and enjoyed a few of their local beer – Ozujsko and popular dish – Grilled king prawns served on potato Rosti. I was surprised how inexpensive my meal was considering I was staying at a very popular hotel.
🔷Scope out Zagreb’s burger festival
🔶Explored Zagreb’s Cathedral
🔷Make sure you take in the history of the city of Zagreb at old town/lower town
🔶Ride the World’s Shortest Funicular
🔷Get lost in the beauty of St. Marks Church
🔶Visit the museum of broken relationship
🔷Before you make your way to the lower town, I’d recommend taking in the scenery of the city and appreciate/admire the colorful houses and beauty of Zagreb.
🔶Spent a few hours at the famous street Tkalciceva – this is where you want to be and partake in the people watching as you enjoy a cocktail or grab a bite.
🔷Had their delicious peach hookah and craft beer – Staropramen, Campari tunic and a yummy Indian dinner Croatian style.

4.5 hour Layover in Frankfurt, Germany blog
💡Here is a recap of my time spent at Frankfurt’s Airport:
Shower was well needed in my case since I was on a red eye flight all night. Now Frankfurt have some really cool shower spots to freshen up for a small fee. The prices obviously will vary so it can be in alignment with the economy. I’d highly recommend staying away from the fancy lounges and experience the airport shower power.
Hop on the Skytrain where you’ll enjoy a sweet view of how the outside of the airport looks like…Its basically a teaser where you get to see the structure of the highways and take a quick glance on how the cars, trucks and buses speed through the highway!
Terminal 2 is where you want to eventually exit when traveling on the Skytrain. BTW the Skytrain is free and it makes us travelers lives fairly easy and comfortable to navigate between the terminals in the airport. This terminal is packed with American and german restaurants, bars, pubs, shopping center, prayer room, cigarette zone, relaxation circle and places to charge your phone.
My favorite restaurant has to be Food Society Grill Pasta Bar where I spent a few hours enjoying a large tasty pretzel and a couple of franziskaner weissbier beer.

Best practices for a female solo traveler visiting Machu Picchu:
On June 22, 2019 it was the big day to finally see Machu Picchu. Now when you get to the town of Aguas Calientes, you much purchase a round trip bus ticket in order to get to Machu Picchu. The ride is about 20 minutes or so and they have buses leaving every 30 minutes. I was able to get on the 6 AM bus. Also, keep in mind you must purchase your entrance ticket to Machu Picchu way in advance before your trip and be sure to have a hard copy of your ticket with you.
Most importantly, please keep in mind that you cannot enter the park if you are not with a professional tour guide. Don’t panic you can get one of the tour guide at the entrance of park for about $15…basically it’s cheaper if you are part of a group tour.
Overall, planning a trip to Peru especially if you are thinking of visiting Machu Picchu is not cheap, but it will be a moment you will never forget. Please check my blog out at www.whereisgatangalie.com for more info.
One of my good friend recently had her bachelorette party at Loreley Beer Garden. Her ideal bachelorette party would have an Oktoberfest theme with a pumpkin keg filled with beer, a gigantic pretzel with beer/cheese dip, sausages and really good music.
Thankfully her bachelorette party was in October and that way her expectation was satisfied at Loreley.
Please rsvp a head of time if you need a table for your guests either inside of the restaurant or outside in the garden.
I was really impress with Loreley Beer garden, it’s a really enjoyable environment with affordable prices. Their garden was especially beautiful and impressive at first sight.
They served some authentic German dishes, my friends were bragging about how delicious the sausages were. I also thought their pretzel with the cheese and beer dip was absolutely delicious, although there was this spicy after taste to it.
I also enjoyed their fish and chips and chicken taco.
Be sure to check into Yelp to receive your free 8 ouch german beer.
Overall the services was pretty amazing. I’m looking forward to visit again and maybe check out the bar scene. The bar was small yet felt welcoming.
23 hour layover in Panama City, Panama Itinerary
Where to stay in Panama City?
🏨 There were so many high end and reasonable hotels, motels, inns and hostels to stay in Panama City. However, I was drawn to the Ramada Plaza Panama Punta Pacifica City Hotel. The Ramada is located in the heart of Panama City and walking distance from some of the most authentic restaurants and the famous Albrook shopping mall in Panama city. The hotel was also a 5 minute drive to where you can catch the hop on hop off bus.
What to do in Panama City, Panama?
📍 The cheapest and best way to travel around Panama City is to purchase a day or two days Citysightseeing pass…thats where you get the hop on and hop off bus.
▶️1st stop was at the Panama Canal
▶️2nd stop was Bio Museum
▶️Final stop was at the Hard Rock Cafe in Panama City
