On Wednesdays we wear pink! Now that I’ve got your attention, let’s talk about something deeply worrying: • Almost half of trans people in Britain have attempted suicide at least once; 84% have thought about it. 55% have been diagnosed with depression at some point. • Two in five trans people have had to deal with a hate crime or incident in the past 12 months. • In our workplaces, half of trans and non-binary people hide or disguise their authentic identify out of fear, and one in eight have been physically attacked by a colleague or customer. • Trans people often lack support from their families too, with more than a quarter being subjected to domestic violence, and one in four having experienced homelessness. • To top things off, Liz Truss MP recently said that a priority of the Government Equalities Office (GEO) would be to make sure that “the under 18s are protected from decisions that they could make, that are irreversible in the future”. Transgender children deserve the freedom and confidence to explore their gender identity wherever their journey takes them, free from fear, isolation and discrimination. Policy makers, organisations, community groups and individuals need to come together to reject this damaging narrative, and work as allies with trans people. Now is the time for us all, more than ever, to stand up for trans equality.
@jacquidevon has created a series of awesome t-shirts to help raise awareness around this and drive support to @mermaidsgender. Check out the link on her profile and show your support today!
Feeling exhausted today so it’s super good for a throwback pic! Did this one couple of weeks ago during lockdown and I had no chance to post it!
I hope your day was not as stressful as mine‼️😎
Wish you all a relaxed evening 😘
