(29/366) Rainbow 🌈 - #GentlemanJack may not have taken home any awards at last night's @OfficialNTAs, but the fact that it was nominated is still important because even in 2020 - #RepresentationMatters . Perhaps now more than ever. However, I am at the point where a nomination isn't enough. Not for this show. It deserved more. The people who have put their everything into this show deserved more. Not just last night, but in every awards show that it has been snubbed at.
I am done with sugar-coating it for people by saying it's a story about a formidable woman who was an entrepreneur who defied all the social restraints placed on her by her gender. Yes it is that, but it is more. This is a show about two lesbians in the 1800s and how despite everything - they found the courage to rise above all the challenges they faced to love each other. It is their love story and it is the most beautiful depiction of two people on that journey that I have ever seen. Their story is one that needed to be told.
I am still eternally grateful for the community this show has given me and the way it has given me the strength to be more unapologetically me. My life has changed because of it.
If you still haven't watched the show think about all the times you've asked me to watch something. Then ask yourself if that thing you asked me to watch has meant a fraction to you what this show means to me. I can tell you now the answer. Tell me again why you haven't watched it.
The Gentleman Honey Smash
It's a long time ago when I made the last whiskey based drink. Back in december, I guess. The good old whiskey drinking time...
This one is a light sour twist on the classic Mint Julep which originally is made with Bourbon Whiskey. But why a Mint Julep with honey? The honey itself doesn't has this industrial sugar taste which makes it perfect for this natural based drink. In addition, the honey is underlined by the sour lemon juice to reveal the flavours of the honey. The Jack Daniels Gentleman Jack Whiskey matches this sweet and sour flavour with its own caramel, mint and dark apple flavours.
By the way, there is one decisive step that turns a Bourbon into a Tennessee Whiskey: the "Charcoal Mellowing". For this purpose, sugar marple has been burned to charcoal in Lynchburg since 1866. The distilled whiskey now seeps drop by drop through a 3 meter high layer of charcoal. The secret of the mildness is the double "Charcoal Mellowing" process, once before and once after maturing in oak barrels.

18thFeb1934- Incurred a cross thinking of Miss W- last night...wrote letter to her - said I should be with her for 2 or 3 days before the ten days end and promised not to take Mrs Bewley [owner of the lodgings] by surprise, will do all her commissions and had she given me ten times as many and those ten times as difficult, not one would have been a bore, impatient to see her, one object uppermost in my thought she may guess whom or what she pleasures for reasons to be explained when we meet, say she had better write on one of her ends of her next letter order to Briggs [bankers] to pay me a hundred pounds on her account meaning that that will be ready for the journey to London and the other order will be on their bankers in London for going abroad. I wonder what she will say of this, still decidedly of opinion she should not put her servants in mourning for Mrs Atkinson and she had better tell James he has conducted himself so well in her service, she will keep him till November if he likes but cannot keep him ultimately – particularly wish her to go nowhere in public with Mrs Belcombe and to tell her she is to make no more acquaintance, she, Miss W-, knows how particular I am, I will introduce her myself.
Letter from M- particularly affectionate. 'Freddy you are more frequently uppermost in my mind than you think, the pleasures of memory still visit me... if you had continued always near me, it would have been happier for me...I hope Steph sends you good accounts of your friend of yours, you say nothing but that you are very busy and this is well employment cheats us out of troubles. Bless you my Fred, love me always and believe me truly yours Mariana.’ Mary, you are surely too late in refusing me, you lost me - no no I would rather try another as I said to Charlotte I would rather have anyone than M- - let her take Mr Crewe, had she been what she ought to have been to me she could not say what she will have done as she did to him.I see she has hope of me yet I trust I am already beyond her reach. #annelister #annwalker #gentlemanjack
