Well yesterday was the first day of our Fall Semester for Homeschool 2020 and it was a huge success in my book!! I know not every day will be like yesterday was, but I’m so glad we are off to a good start. Some new programs, new curriculum, and new teaching methods that I am instituting this year. I’m hoping that after lots of prayer, research and thought that I can make our third year of homeschool the best one yet! Decided to reward my kiddos for their efforts with a late night walk on the beach before bed time—the sunset was magnificent!!
Here’s to finding joy and learning new things every day ❤️🌊 #homeschool#homeschooling#homeschoollife#getoutside#beach#vacation#travel#sunset#beachlife#largefamily

I hope everyone is safe after the storms last night! It was a beautiful almost chilly morning and a great day to be on the water.
Make some time today to get outside and get active!
I don't exactly know what an epic ride means, but if its a definition of a nice ride in the cold, rain, snow combined with an even colder headwind then my ride today was truly epic. 🚴♀️🌧❄🌬
Luckily there was a warm place on top where I got the most expensive pasta and hot chocolate too warm up and dry a little before the way down. 🏔🔝🍝☕

It's #nationalbreastfeedingweek Such an important part of Lijie's and my life right now and I feel strongly that it should be a normal part of mum life in general. Not something you should have to hide away to do. So here we are having a quick break from the gardening.
I like this photo because sometimes I wanna be cute and instagramable and other times Jack says funny things that make me laugh & I remember which one is more important.

The next day of our trip to Spokane, we stayed at a winery just south of Olympic National Park. We were lucky enough to stay just off of Hood Canal which provided some great waterway views. We also did a short hike to Lower Lena Lake! More pics to come!

POW! 🦅😍 (It’s only taken me the majority of my adult life to get a shot like this, but whatever…🤦🏻♀️😂)
Over the weekend when I was out wildlifing (not a word, but it is now) on my way home JUST as I was about to put the camera away I looked up and this utterly BEAUTIFUL female kestrel was flying overhead, not this close, but she was soaring nearby. I thought I’d just wait a few minutes to see if she came any closer, told Isabelle to sit quietly and we waited. And we…waited. Around 30 minutes passed and it was already 7pm so I thought enough today and decided to give up. Then, JUST as I was putting my camera away, low and behold, she reappeared out of nowhere and so much closer than before!
I had already packed up my tripod so quickly swung the camera out of my bag, rolled onto the floor onto my back pointing the lens straight into the sky (Isabelle had absolutely no idea what I was doing 🤦🏻♀️😂) and grazed my elbow in the process as I hit the floor 😂 But I got the shot! 🙌 And yes - I know the focus isn’t quite there and it could be a lot sharper (highly likely to do with my posture and rolling onto the ground on a very small coastal path and not even looking where I was landing! Whoops 🥴) But for those of you who know me you’ll know how many hours and hours over the years I’ve spent going out trying to photograph kestrels! An unhealthy amount that turned into a bit of an obsession for a while! So I’m ecstatic with this! 😂
You can tell this is a female due to the colouration of the head being dappled brown whereas the males heads and cheeks are blueish grey. They have exceptional eyesight and are able to spot prey from up to 50 metres away! 🤯 They also have the ability to see ultraviolet light which they use to their advantage when hunting as they are able to see urine trails of tiny mammals, which they will follow then strike! They are vole specialists are need to eat between 4-8 every single day to survive!
All in all they are simply amazing birds! I couldn’t decide which photo to post so I’ve posted two 🙈 , hopefully one day I will get a sharper shot - might just have to wait another 10 years! 😂
