Found these incredible pools close to one of the outlets of the imposing Mýrdalsjökull glacier in #Iceland during my recent flight with @volcanopilot - already planning my return, you know what that means buddy, more Korean BBQ hotwings in your car 😂😁

If you're coming to Iceland, you expect to see some ice, right? After all, roughly 11% of the country's land area is covered by glaciers. ⠀
Luckily, there are a variety of ways to enjoy Iceland's glaciers, which—by the way—are the largest in Europe. ⠀
I guess waiting for glaciers to melt away wasn’t enough, we’ve got to use excavators to help them go down faster.
All that for the enjoyment of some skiers, pathetic !

I was so shocked to see this image this morning. Here are a couple of bulldozers flattening the Pitztal glacier in Austria. The country is building more and more ski resorts, many depending on the presence of glaciers to allow skiers to ski for most of the year.
We all know the impact of tourism in the Alps, but for the alpine populations, tourism has significantly contributed to the economic development of these mountains and valleys. These are the same places were glaciers are covered with white tarps during the summer to prevent them from melting too much.
It seems that glaciers are only worth saving if they can be skied on... We won't save them with only white tarps and ski resorts.

Some of these scenes from Iceland are like from another planet! Have you seen these neat formations before?

Photo by @lucalocatelliphoto | Although spectacular, glaciers in Nordvest-Spitsbergen National Park, Svalbard, remind us how fragile our environment is. Climate change is causing these ancient giants to melt at an unseen pace. Arctic sea ice has thinned significantly over the past half century, and its extent has declined by about 10 percent in the past 30 years. It is crucial that we find new ways to live on our planet while respecting the precarious balance of nature and climate. I’ve finally arrived in Peru!
After over 50 hours without sleeping and over 12 hours spent sitting inside an airplane, this was way too much haha
Today we’re doing all the basic stuffs, change money, get a phone number etc... Then I’m off to meet with the French Ambassador in Peru to explain what the project is all about.
