Coming to you on this fine Sunday morning is a very happy belated birthday to this little Wonder Woman of an amazing friend. Alexis, there are no words to describe what kind of friend you have been outside of being my rock. Thank you for everything you have done for me. I have seen you grow in tremendous strides over the last few years and could not be more proud of all of your accomplishments - both personal and professional. I am incredibly blessed and fortunate to be able to call on you and have you by my side through everything. I love you oh so much and cannot wait to see what the future brings for the two of us! @alexis_petre *
TO LOVE WITHOUT LASTING
A droplet of water on a leaf. The sound of ocean as it greets the shore. One feather in the sand. Three thistles. Thousands of swans beating their heavy wings against the air. Two children skipping across giant stones. A lone bicycle propped against the low pine. An endless mosaic of small, water-worn rocks that range through all the peaches, grays, and butters of the color wheel.
How freeing to realize that we can appreciate a moment without needing to hold onto it! How gratifying to see we can love just as deeply without needing what is loved to last.
And, how rich to realize the way it all runs together at the seams! How brilliant to see that we’re all the wind, the leaf, the sea, the air, and feather in the sand.

Had the best birthday trip exploring a new place in our beautiful province.❤️ -
In a nut shell we got to spend some quality time out of the main city, got to experience a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, forest bathed, washed away our stresses at some waterfalls, conquered the fear of heights at a suspension bridge, and saw some whales out at sea. 🐳🙏🏼 -
The other day I went to Hackney Carnival and captured this shot of one of the performers. It’s a great London carnival to go to as it isn’t as busy as Notting Hill for example, but still has great vibes and a real community-coming-together feel.

Had a quick catch-up with Sue and Bry and went to some scenic viewing spots.
It was super foggy and definitely didn’t feel like summer but I guess that’s part of SF’s charm. ☺️ So glad this meet-up pushed through and looking forward to the next one in Sacramento / Lake Tahoe. 😉

One of the 25 Wonders of the World ~ Blue Lagoon, Iceland 🇮🇸
Is it Touristy? Yes..!! Is it crowded? Yes..!! Is it Expensive? A Bit..!! Is it overrated? Heck No..!! It could just be me and a lot others saying this, but despite all the hype, it is worth every second to be in this magical place. The water is as blue as it can get and the photos online or posted in any group or page don’t need editing 🥰
The gentle mist rising from the surface of water, the color of the lagoon, the overall setting of this place is too good to be true..!! If a person has taken all the effort and spent so much to visit Iceland, I think it’d be worth every second spending it here. Words cannot describe the feeling you get when you walk shivering from the cold into the welcoming hot waters of the springs..!! To top it all of, the setting sun in the backdrop was a gorgeous shade of gold to the stunning blues of water and skies..!!
Blue Lagoon, is a man made industrial hot springs, which was declared as one of the 25 wonders of the world. It is the most popular and the most visited place in all of Iceland. The Silica, Algae and Mineral mud masks provided gently exfoliate skin and leave it soft to touch 🇮🇸
Lagoon Entry Tickets are better to be bought well in advance, as they’re all filled up pretty quickly and a basic package would be all one would need, if they’re thinking about saving a little. Only complaint and concern that I had of this lagoon was, one should be very very careful as to not let their hair touch the water, it’d be a pain otherwise..!!

I used to think I was boring. Hopelessly average. I’d never have interesting stories to tell. Never be the person someone would look to advice on anything other than maybe teaching math.
Sometimes I still feel this way. But I’m noticing a shift. Whether it’s the confidence that comes from getting older or from accomplishing things on my own, I feel capable. Bold. I stand up straighter. Offer more of my opinions. Tell more of my stories.
Not because I think they’re better or more interesting, but because I know that they’re not. We all have an interesting story to tell. We are all unique. We all have experiences that no one else has. But it’s the feelings that resonate with us all.
We learn from stories when they make us feel something — whether they’re average or compelling circumstances. And that is exactly why we should share them freely — not just in one area of our lives. Because someone needs to hear it. Someone is waiting for your story. Share it with them.

When I was maybe 11 I walked far across town without permission to the grocery store. I’d pooled my change to buy a magazine of Hanson posters. I know what I’m doing, don’t worry, I told my parents when I realized how much trouble I was in. It started before.
I got my drivers license on my 16th birthday. Drove away from the dmv and then to a town over an hour away without telling anyone. I just wanted to go shopping, I explained to my parents. I wanted to be free. On the road.
I moved to Louisiana after grad school. I’d wake up early on the weekends to explore the historic neighborhoods. I walked alone in the silent downtown, finding interesting murals and the remnants of wild nights out. I just like to see things, I told my friends.
It started before.
I can be so single focused. Think that what I’m doing is so different from other parts of my life. So new. Oh, I just started solo traveling a few years ago, is my common response. And that’s true — but it started before. The smaller steps.
The things we are doing now are preparing us for what we’ll do in the future. Small steps are movement. Experience can be transferred. The good or bad — it’s all preparation. We see the individual threads, but not the tapestry that we’re weaving.
And I can’t wait to see what I’m being prepared to create.
This place never ceases to amaze me. However, don’t let these shots fool you. For the second time I’ve visited, I forgot to bring a sweater again. I ended up standing in 40 mph wind and freezing trying to get these shots in 🥶 Do you think it was worth it? ❤️ #california#lompoc

the old market of Cairo ✨Khan el-Khalili
This place is my fav of Cairo, while strolling the market, you may find your eyes get lost between the unique mix of merchandise displayed in shops and allies🔮from spices and perfumes to jewelry 💎 and souvenirs!
It’s impossible to come back without buying something!
The number 1️⃣ rule of the market is bargaining.
Maybe it's because I'm Chinese, but I love bargaining!
It's almost like a way of making new friends.
Enjoying caviar and skewers with one my best friends @therealestatematch at the @kindred_social event this past summer! I’m so excited they’re launching on October 1st!
Kindred is a new platform that connects influencers and brands in an authentic way AND a percentage of commissions support my charities of choice!
In fact, this post generated funds for a wonderful charity found on the GlobalGiving network. I’ve chosen for Kindred to donate to @seva_mandir_official, and help send a child in India to school. .
Check them out and show them some love!
Have an awesome Thursday, everyone! 🧡
